i have started my pre-christmas clear out.....clean up......

normally every year.. i say i am going to start this early. but a few days before christmas i have a panic clean up.. in other words... hide things behind cupboard doors.......so then over christmas i feel on edge just incase someone comes.... and notice things ...lol...

but today.......i have started........:j

i have totally cleaned the landing.......curtains are in the wash as we speak.....paint work has been washed down with stardrops.....( only now starting to use this wonder stuff.... as i tried using up all the other cleaning stuff that i had lying around the place.....).....

some of the kids storage boxes and draws that are .......no re phase that.... were full to the brim of bits of old ..and broken....... and un played with toys......pens pencils etc...... have been cleared out.......

so the hall way and landing will now be ready for painting.....

i am soooooo pleased with myself...... as i must admit housework is not my thing.......

but now that i have started...... i must try and join in the flylady challenge... and keep on top of it......

tomorrow will be the spare room:eek:   and i mean:eek:

rihgt better go now as if i sit down anylonger nothing else will get done...

Well done! I've just had a bit of a blitz in the kitchen....so I'm feeling pleased with myself too!

I notice you said your hall is now ready for painting....don't tell me you're going to decorate it time for Christmas as well!!

I've been doing the same thing. Especially the getting rid of broken toys and junk they don't play with anymore.

I also hate housework but I do love a tidy house so find it a real struggle keeping on top of it.

For the last few weeks i've been filling a black bag during the week for the charity shop which my OH delivers on Sat morning ,so i'm slowly but surely seeing a difference.

I'm determined to get my house in order by Xmas and am pushing myself to be a tidier more organised person in general

yep...... considering the hall and landing hasnt seen a paint brush in about 14 years.....

i normally try and give the living room a freshen up paint......every so often as with the dog and the kids paw prints on the wall .. it gets grubby pretty quick......

i have had such a good afternoon cleaning and clearing out..... its given me the 'umph' to do more things....its put a spring in my step so to speak.....( how sad is that an afternoon cleaning has given me a confidence boost ...lol......

  • I've started 'the big clean' today too! I'm away most weekends from early March to now and work during the week so the house has been severely neglected.

I've statred chucking all the rubbish and junk out and tackling the washing backlog. I'm hoping to have a place that i'm not embarassed to ask people in to in a few weeks time!

  • Well done! I've got to get mine started so I can give at least a lick of paint downstairs as we've had the house rewired & it now needs a good clean & spruce up. Shall have to strap my 6 month old to my back to keep him happy, shame he's too young to hold a brush, lol.

I love doing this too.. I seem to have been chucking out forever though!! and it isn't making the slightest difference.

I'm hoping to get the bathroom, top landing, loo and boys bedroom decorated before christmas.. and if I am really good the middle room as well!

lol.. I've had this avatar a couple of weeks.. I'm not usually such a prolific poster as I have been this week though.. I have to do my cleaning now.. I have a large house, a larger family and more mess than the council tip!! whatever I clean today needs redoing tomorrow anyway.. peeing the wind it is equated too.. I just keep hoping that one day there will simply not be as much junk lying about so I'll have less to do come December!

I have half a house to decorate before christmas and 3/4 of that needs finding before I can decorate it!

I have an easier solution, move house :D decorate the new one before you move in, fling as you pack, put away much more organised, working for me :D Ok that's cheating but it's working well, well sort of, why do kids try to climb in bins to rescue the likes of broken toys, last years conkers, batteries which are nearly flat etc. Told him next time he goes on a rescue mission in the bin I'm pushing him in and shutting the lid!

Next is my soft toy collection :( surely DP won't make me part with them :(
One day I might be more organised...........

we did the kids bedrooms last wk end, but no doubt they will need doing again, nearer the time. its beena while since they was done (every hidey hole emptied etc)
Its just my craft corner of the living room which looks unsightly. Hope to reduce & pack most of it away for the festive season
