Help : locked out twitter account

I’ve just been locked out my twitter account and asked to verify my account . They have asked me to verify it with SMS through to my mobile phone . However I don’t have access to this number anymore and stupidly never removed it from my twitter account .
I managed to change my password for my twitter account in my email thinking that would allow me to log back in again . But it’s still requesting the code from an sms text .
Is there anyway I can sort this out myself . Or is the only route via a twitter ticket . As I see that can take them a few days to sort out . And I use my twitter account everyday .
