No records

Hi,
I have had several loans in the past from Lombard, Cahoot and Co-op.
I have contacted them about ppi but they tell me that because it was over 6 yrs ago, they have no records. I did not keep any records once I paid off my loans.
Should I call it a day on reclaiming ppi?
Thank you.

If neither of you have records, yes.
You could gamble £10 on a SAR, if you're feeling particularly lucky.0 -

What is SAR?
Thanks.0 -
A Subject Access Request. For £10, they are required to send you whatever data they have on you.
Which may be nothing, or could turn up something they have overlooked.0 -

Join the club! Neither have I for two of my older loans and I've tried everything I've learnt about on this forum to try and find the records for them. Short of asking Arnie to dress up as the Terminator and go into the banks demanding my data I don't know what else I can do!
On a more serious note you could try the SAR method which might produce some evidence of your credit finance with the above lenders. Also, see if you can order some transaction histories or statements from your current account which might show direct debits in payment for these loans. Best of luck0 -

I tend to change banks often to get the best deal. I have not borrowed using my current account .0 -
Ok, so you didn't pay any of these loans with a direct debit or standing order, was it a paying in book? Send a SAR to each lender separately.0

Sorry, I should have explained. When I wrote current account, I meant the account I have now. All the loans were with previous accounts at other banks.0 -
If your current accounts from which you were paying the loans were held by you in the last six years, then there's a good chance you might be able to request transaction data or copies of statements showing the loans in payment at the time.
You would have to send a SAR to each bank where you held a current account or contact the local branch and ask if you can order some statements which they will charge for.
Often a copy statement will also show the loan reference number, and the name of the business, alongside the direct debit which you can use as proof of payment.
Looks like you've got quite a lot of digging and homework to do to find sufficient evidence for a PPI complaint.0
