I am a little confuse have received an NHS Optical Voucher B for £59.30 My prescription is unchanged from my last one a few years ago but this was a voucher A.
I am confused as to why this time I have been issued with a voucher B rather then a voucher A.
My prescription is
Right
Sph +1.25
Cyl - 2.75
Axis 24
Left
Sph Plano
Cyl -0.75
Axis 134
Both of the above are in the Distance row. The Near row is empty.

Because you have a cylindrical greater than 2 with a spherical less than 10

Current balance £58,108
Cc around 8k.0 -
I didn't do anything to the them. They are in the same condition as they were when I had the test. The Store Manager took a look and decided I could have another voucher.
So just to confirm B, is the correct voucher. So it shouldn't have been an A type last time?0 -
Further confusion. This is meant to be an unchanged prescription. However, my old prescription says
OLD PRESCRIPTION
Right
Sph - 1.50
Cyl + 2.75
Axis 114
Left
Sph - 0.75
Cyl + 0.75
Axis 44
This seems like a different prescription.
Can someone please confirm.
NEW PRESCRIPTION
Right
Sph +1.25
Cyl - 2.75
Axis 24
Left
Sph Plano
Cyl -0.75
Axis 1340 -
It’s changed slightly but it’s been transposed which is just a personal preference thing for whoever is writing the prescription. You should have had a B voucher last time, someone didn’t catch that your cyl value was over 20

In optical terms what does it mean that its been transposed?
I hope this is nothing to worry about.

On the GOS3 voucher I have received the store have filled out Part 1. However, they have also filled out part of the patient's declaration and the suppliers declaration including inserting voucher values but also the Maximum claimable for glasse as £0.00 and Total Claim for glasses as £0.00. They have also inserted the name and address of the Vision Express Formby branch under Supplier name and address. They have also inserted 17.11.17 on the part 2 patients declaration and the part 3 suppliers declaration.
This is concerning as this may cause problems should I go to redeem the voucher at an opticians other then Vision Express. Surely they should have left supplier details empty ready for the supplier I choose to go to fill in their details.0 -
No idea about the parts as the vouchers look different in Scotland but in terms of transposing its a personal preference of the individual optometrist. As individuals we will either prefer to work in plus or minus cyl and the sphere and axis are adjusted accordingly. Even the most junior member of shop staff should be able to transpose your prescription if you asked them.0

When you transpose you start with Three numbers like
Plano/+1.25x180
You add the sphere and cyl together, change the sign on the cyl and change the axis by 90 so it becomes
+1.25/-1.25x90.
If you set a trial frame up with those two sets of lenses you’d have exactly the same correction out of them.
There are times when it comes to optical vouchers when you need to transpose, like if your patient is -5.00/-1.25 you should transpose to -6.25/+1.25 so the computer that reads the voucher will recognise that it’s a B voucher. All contact lenses are sold in minus cyl so if your glasses optician writes in + and you go to buy contacts you’ll find the numbers on the contacts boxes don’t add up.0
