Cooke & lewis kitchen

HI.
Some years ago i had a Cooke and Lewis kitchen fitted from B&Q.

It now is in need of a update , new doors , worktops , etc.

Fitted at the moment in the middle is 2 pan drawers and a single drawer directly above, makeing 3 drawers combination.

My question is please , will i be able to buy other makes of doors and drawer fronts to fit my new kitchen makeover?.

And the door hinges , dont seem to be in the same place (the holes) as i have tried a old door i had in the garage.

I do not want to replace the cabinets as they are in very good order & same with the appliances.

As anyone had the same problems that i envisage may happen , thanks in advance for any replies or sound advice.

I used C&L units for my new kitchen, but baulked at the cost of their doors & draw fronts - That and they don't do 900mm drawers... So I got all the door & draw fronts from Homestyle. The price was right, and they could drill the hinge holes where they needed to be.

If vinyl wrapped MDF is OK for you, then they would be my recommendation.

I would avoid vinyl wrap kitchen doors like I would avoid a plague. But you pay your money and take your choice - if quality means nought, nor pride in a job, then fine.

Nobody on this Forum has seen OP's doors, so there can be no definite answer to the post. A definite answer can be obtained by taking a door to the nearest B&Q and matching it against those on display. This is what I would be doing!

I think you maybe right !, they are white gloss & shiny come vinyl looking , thats cracking in places , thats why i want to update , the kitchen is about 8 year old only.
    thanks for the reply.
  • Have you checked ex-display kitchen sites, it's usually a bunch cheaper?

When we moved last year we wanted to just update a few of the units on the kitchen and like you wanted the same brand they currently were. We used http://www.theusedkitchencompany.com/ - definitely recommend them.

I was going to change my doors about 7 years a go and looked at DIY Kitchens http://www.diy-kitchens.com/. But after looking at their preassembled units I ended up replacing the whole kitchen using painted wood doors. Still looks good and the units are stronger/thicker then those from the sheds. Also they are available in different colours so end panels are not needed.. They have a large selection of doors but they are undrilled so DIY Kitchens sell a jig to make the fitting of hinges easy.
  • If you can afford it, it may be easier replacing the whole kitchen as doors are not always the same size. Don't take the price that you get in the highstreet as they are usual 100% + more for the same kitchen that you could buy for half the price online. And, you get to design the kitchen exactly how you want it, not down to the limitations of the shed planning it for you.
