Very Rejected Order

Hi everyone, i ordered a wardrobe from Very. I made an account and paid with debit card. They took my money, then updated my order status to 'order rejected'.

Apparently they have declined my account, however they didint tell me till after i made an order. I didnt want a credit account, i just wanted to make a cash purchase.

Now the money is missing from my bank and i have no idea what to do.

Can anyone help?

Contacted them, apparently i failed their 'internal security checks'. My credit file is awful, thats why i paid with cash.

Apparently they didnt run a credit check, however in my opinion they must have, otherwise why not let me pay in cash?

Do i have any comeback if i check my credit file and see they ran a check against my permission?

Not necessarily. What if they declined you on internal policy rules? Or location? Or profile? Or any other check that takes place before external CRAs?

You can certainly complain. But I would check their terms first to see what you agreed to, and what they did.

Thanks, i have a family member who lives in the same house as me who has ordered items from very before and paid in cash. Very strange, apparently i have to wait up to 10 days for my money. Major pee-take!
  • If I remember correctly, it actually states on the tv ad something like “When you place your first order a credit account will be opened for you”. Obviously this involves a search on your credit file. Their business model, like a lot of home shopping companies, relies on the interest you pay over the term to earn (huge amounts of) profit.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

During the ordering process, punters have the option to place their order without opening a credit account. Perhaps OP missed it or Very is picky about who it sells to.

Hi, yes I 100% chose the option to just use a card. Apparently it opens an account regardless. My mum ordered it for me in the end to the same address. They must run a credit check I can't see any other explanation. Will be monitoring my report and if they have can i make a complaint?
