Nuaire Drimaster Chimney Smoke

Options
Last year we had a Nuaire Drimaster PIV system fitted. It is brilliant at removing condensation but every time our neighbour lights his woodburner our house fills with the smell of smoke. Unfortunately he has a fire going all day every day throughout the winter. We contacted South West Ventilation who fitted the system and they could not help. Also Nuaire could not come up with a solution! Does anybody know of a more substantial filter that would fit the Nuaire Drimaster? Or have any ideas how we can stop this happening? I am sure it is not very healthy.

Is the air inlet near the wood-burner flu exit?
  • The inlet into our loft is at the opposite end of our property from the neighbours chimney. That was deliberate due to his smokey chimney. The roofing felt may have perished and the smoke could be coming in between the tiles. I'm not sure. I assumed the filter on the Nuaire Drimaster would remove smoke!

Sounds a bit like it to me.
The smoke is obviously getting in to the loft & been sucked in by the Drimaster unit.
Thats presuming the unit is fitted in the loft.
I have had a unit fitted for about 25 years & I do get the smell of smoke sometimes.
However it's my own smoke !!!
I have no felt underneath my roof tiles.
Don't really think there would be anything you could do about it though.
Maybe if you have a big loft space you could move the Drimaster unit & use a longer duct to supply the air through your ceiling ??
    Just a thought.

    Sorry bit of cross posting.........
The Drimaster filter will NOT remove the smoke at all.
