Bird peanuts received mouldy. Refund refused

I bought 12 Kg of bird peanuts on line.

When the bag was opened there was an awful smell and the peanuts were dry.

I received the message that my refund was refused because

"Our guarantee policy does not cover Food products that are not defective once these products have been opened"

Does anyone know what this means please?

    Providing its a uk business.

    It sounds like theyre saying its not faulty, im guessing they think youve opened it and its then gone bad as opposed to being bad when you opened it?

    How long ago did you order and receive them? How long ago did you notice they were mouldy?

    I think this will be the deciding factor.

    If bought them and didn't open them for a few months I think you will struggle.
  • Would you have preferred the peanuts to be wet?


    I would only eat peanuts that were dry. But I'm not a bird

    Well, no problem, because this is a food product that IS defective...
