Transferring money between two LTSB accounts under different names

Options
Hi all,

I have just opened an Under 19s account with LTSB. My father, who has a current and savings account with them also had an online savings account for myself created under his name.

I now need a small amount of what is in my OS account in my U19 account (About £100-£150) but as the accounts are under 2 different names, the online account system doesn't show both accounts to transfer between. I know on this system there is a facility to pay bills or transfer money to other accounts in the event that money needs to go in another bank account that is not LTSB. My two questions about this are:

1) Can I use this online transfer facility to transfer funds from my OS account under my Dad's name into my U19s account under my name?

2) As the tranfer will be between 2 LTSB accounts, will it take upto 4 working days as stated on the site? Or will it be any quicker as it is an internal transfer?

We will sometime next week be closing the account and tranferring the whole lot into my U19s account and then re-opening an OS account under my name; but I need money for a trip I'm going on tomorrow and as our local is now closed, we can't sort out the account that way.

Many thanks,

Karl :)

If your Dad goes into 'Transfers & Payments', he can set up a payment using your sort code and account number (Edit: he will need to have transferred it from the Online Saver to his Current A/c first).

    This will be instant.

Sorry to disagree and I may be wrong but if I transfer an amount to my wifes current account from mine (same branch, both online access) it is not instant.

The way we got round this was to have a joint online account which we can both access so any money we need to move 'instantly' we transfer to the joint account first.
  • Why is the online saver in your fathers name?
Why not get one open yourself and get your dad to transfer the money to you . You just give him the sort code and account number.
  • I transfer money from my LTSB account into my kids' LTSB accounts & it is instant, just set up their details via the transfers & payments sections.

I have found it to be instant. Maybe, if set up outside 'banking hours', it doesn't take place till the following morning?

He created it under his name so he had control of it when I was younger - It's just the way he wanted it. I will be creating my own OS account, but need money in my U19s account for a trip this evening.

    Thanks :)
  • Hi all,

Dad transferred the money to my Debit account on Sunday at 1:30 and it popped in this morning. Yes, it was too late for my trip, but he subbed me - All is well, I now have an OS account with the rest of my money in (£100 in Current to prevent losing all my cash if my Card gets stolen)

Thanks for the replies all :) Much appreciated :)
