    Afternoon :)

I'm still really cross at school. I don't think they knew what to say/do this morning :o I'm big big cross. The teacher was brought to say sorry to me and DD but I just don't feel like that's enough? Is she going to apologise in front of the all the parents and children it happened in front of. I guess not! Still so annoyed and the more I think about it the more it makes me question it. The principal did agree straight away with me that it was unacceptable and called her straight into the meeting with DD and like I say she said sorry she was in the wrong. I really expected them to side with the teacher so I was a bit shocked!

Anyway school issues aside smalls all are in school. I need to buy 3 Easter eggs for Friday's donation for non uniform for Easter bingo. Still need to make an Easter bonnet too.

Feeling stressed still. I'd love to get away from the day to day !!!! of home. Feel like I have a massive elephant sat on my shoulder. I'm really considering trying to speak with family fund and just taking the smalls away in term time :o or partly maybe a weekend so they just miss the Friday and Monday. I'm not sure I guess I'd still have train fares to fund myself. I guess running away isn't really an option :rotfl:

Hope you all have a lovely day :)

I'm not surprised you're still mad - maybe the school newsletter could include an apology/explanation? Only if that doesn't make things harder for your daughter of course - but sometimes explanations of why something is unacceptable, are helpful.

I wish I could lend you Mum's old house for a getaway but there's still black mould and the only useable bedroom has a hole in the ceiling! So really it's not a preferred option... it's very slowly getting better but isn't there yet.

Could you all play at holiday at home for a while? Pack bags, swap rooms, eat picnics on a blanket in/outdoors, have 'trips' to places you usually go and pretend to discover them? Maybe more a treat for the little ones than for you, but the money that would have gone on train fares could perhaps fund ice creams from the van or something? You would have to find a treat element for you, which might be to 'hire' a cleaning team (even if they are primary school age and get paid in ice cream!) Then when the jobs are done you all go out somewhere or do some new activity (plenty of origami ideas on the internet).

Glad to read all the smalls are in school and that you and DD got the apology you obviously deserved.

If DS's attendance is above the acceptable average, (we get a print out what seems like every other week ), occasionally I let him have a cheeky Friday so we can get to the van early. And yes, I'm that awful Mum who rings in and says he's ill. If they're going to make it so I have to lie then I will. Also if they take him out of lessons for the day without asking me, because it's his turn to do 'office duty' I'm prepared to take him out for family time.

Anyway, could you just do that. Sometimes the biggest thrill for children is being out of school when they should be there. And then maybe you could all get on the bus or the train and go somewhere local but different for the day and have a treat - ice-cream, cake, milkshake - anything that's out of the ordinary. xx

    Hello W,

Sorry to hear about the school AGAIN. They don't seem to get things right, do they? Sounds like you're having to spend more money for Easter things at school as well. Anyway, I hope DD is OK.

It really sounds as if you and the wee ones could do with a break. I wish I could suggest something but I don't know enough about it. Maybe somebody else will have an idea.

Meanwhile you take care of yourself. xxxx

I’m so sorry school are giving you grief - it’s so annoying they haven’t given permission for a holiday in term time - it’d do you all a world of good. Couldn’t you get them all a dental appointment on a Friday dinnertime -( you’d be surprised at the amount of Friday afternoon ‘family’ dental appointments at our school) followed by a train trip to a nice seaside place - the one with a big tower maybe, not a million miles from here. You could get the train back Sunday evening and then you wouldn’t have to pay a fine and could use Family Fund money. If you stay at eith end - St Anne’s or Cleveleys there are lots of things to do that are not as costly as the main town. We used to go there and just steer clear of the expensive bits - walks along the front, playing on the beach, fish and chips from the paper. A weekend would be better than nothing.

    Morning :)

Thank you all :) really do appreciate you all popping in.

I am considering that Milann. Even just a day trip. I think I'm going to keep my eyes open for the family Railcard offers. It would mean a whole day out with train fares both ways is less than £20 to the seaside. And obviously holiday train fares would be the around £20 return for the 4 of us.

Still nothing much to say other than moans. Quite boring :o

I'm really considering switching over to universal credit on the advice of the support worker. Once it's sorted things would be slightly better but it's the 5 week wait putting me off :o Will see what tax credits are like next week and go from there.

    Have a lovely day

  • Be careful of that, Wannabe: many people think that will be better off on UC, but due old debts they have forgotten about that rear their ugly heads at the transition , they aren't necessarily.

  • I would be wary of changing to UC too Wannabe, I've heard nothing but bad things about it.

A trip to the seaside would really cheer you and the DC up. I would defintiely be tempted to have a family tummy bug on the Friday and go to the seaside. You'll have to coach the DC to pretend they were ill that day though. It's not ideal teaching our DC to tell porky pies, but sometimes schools can be so rigid and inflexible that it seems like a viable option at times :o.

    Morning

Thank you - I think she's wrong. I've sought advice and no where seems to agree with her and say staying on legacy benefits is better and I should wait to be transitioned over. I can't take the risk of things being worse than right now.

I hate where I live. Another night of no sleep because of someone 'hanging' around with a their whole face covered. DS didn't go to be until nearly midnight either as they'd scared him :( The mood isn't great in this house this morning.

No plans today. Going to try and get a nap in :o I feel like I've become so lazy!

    Have a lovely day
