There's a Travelodge just off the A3 at London Chessington Tolworth, next to a train station. about half an hour from central London; 2 nights starts at £98 for 2 people.

Cricklewood Travelodge is also good. Literally a couple of miles off the end of the M1. Parking is reasonably priced but you can always park in the local streets just past Cricklewood Station if you want for free. Getting into the city is a bus journey or train ride of about 30 minutes.
