Previous addresses mistake and dilema

Hi,

Over the summer I have requested my bank LTSB to send my bank and credit card statements to my friend's address, where he could keep the letters for me until my return.

I think when filling the change of address form, I mistakenly listed the change of address to both Permanent Address and Correspondence Address. (LTSB listed my previous address as my friend's, and my 'current' address as 0 months old)

Recently when I applied for my LTSB Airmiles Duo card (I haven't heard from them yet, just a week has passed), when I was filling in the form, I asked the agent what should I fill in for "Time in Current Address". I told her about my problem, she said I should just fill in according to the real situation, i.e. that I have been in my current address for 2 years (and not 0 months). I did as was told.

However, I'm still a little bit concerned. What do you think will be the right thing to do?

    There is/was a postal strike.

Haha, yes I know that. I'm not too concerned about that (I am quietly confident that I will have that approved).

My real question is: whenever I fill in a form in the future, how should I list my address details? Should I list the actual situation, that I'm in my current address for 2 years, or should I list it as Current Address, Previous Address 1 (3 months for summer), Previous Address 2 (which is still my current address)?

Tell the truth! Which is about your residential address not the address to which you had correspondence sent while you were away.

If your current address is also your former address, did you have a connection with it while your friend was receiving your mail?

Basically while I'm away overseas in the summer my friend helped me to receive the posts. That means I never really left the address that I am staying!

I'm just concerned they will report this as fraud or whatsoever!
  • The 'agent' would have told you if you were successful when you completed the application.

Really? But the branch that I went to was a really small one - everybody's behind the 'glasses', unlike some larger branches where I could meet the bank agents straight away and they can do it on their computer straight away. The branch that I gone too asked me to fill in a form and said they will send it to the processing centre?
  • Maybe it is just me.. but tell it as it is... be 100% honest. If you make a mistake, and try to cover it up by a lie then you will need to tell more lies and start conflicting yourself.

An honest mistake followed by a correction will always turn out better than a series of lies, no matter the situation.

    Good luck!

You should have been told at the time if your application was successful otherwise there is no point in filling in the form.
A quick look at the computer screen would have told the agent this!
