I have a courtesy car at the minute from yesterday until tomorrow. When I picked it up, there was fumes in there so I banged £10 in to keep me going.

It is still showing as 0 miles worth of diesel left in the tank on the screen and the fuel light is still on.

I am just wondering if I need to do anything to reset the computer? I put it in yesterday and have done about 2 miles since putting in the £10.

I have called the dealership who dont know what it could be.

Any thoughts?

  • Perhaps the sender in the tank has become stuck for some reason.

I have had this issue before, except that it seemed to get stuck at around half full which can lead to an unpleasant surprise!

In normal running the light comes on with 50 or 55 miles to go. How many miles does yours say there is to go?

    0. But I have done 2-3 miles since putting in £10.

  • You might not have put enough in to reset the computer.

Unless there is a hole in the bottom of the tank you have put £10 in, guess £1.20 a litre - 8.3 litres, 1.83 Gallons. 50 MPG gets you 90 miles.

Put some more in when you have done 80 miles.

I dont plan on doing 80 miles. I dont plan on doing 10.
It will hopefully be going back tomorrow.

I have done 5-6 miles since posting this and it has not cut out so the fuel is there, it is just not showing for some reason.
