British Gas Homecare - terrible service!!

!I had an British Gas HomeCare service booked today, but the engineer did not turn up. I contacted British Gas via Live Chat that afternoon as I had not heard anything regarding this visit at that point and was told by the agent that an engineer would arrive shortly and call me before his arrival. I had still heard nothing an hour later so contacted BG again, this time by phone and was advised that an engineer would not be able to visit today.
Terrible service, especially as they couldn't even be bothered to call me to cancel. I work full time and can't just hang around in the house waiting for them to come at their own convenience. I've made a complaint.
Does anyone have any advice on good alternatives to BG or experienced similar?

Yeah. I've had this with landlord's gas inspections a few times. I travel two hours on the train to the house, and wait 6 hours for them to show up, but they don't. I've sued them about 3 times for this now.
However, I believe I read recently that they will automatically pay you £50 when this happens in future. Maybe ring and ask.0 -
It would be worth speaking to them (or a letter perhaps) if you have lost a day / half day of work aka monies and they did not show at all, without informing you, with regard to a little bit of re-reimbursement or something.
Certainly no harm in asking / requesting this, or if not a written explanation of why there was "no show" ?0 -
Could it have anything to do with under staffing and poor morale in the workforce..?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
