Possibly an odd suggestion but the floor head itself looks pretty generic, would it be worth seeing if e-spares or similiar had a rubber part that would replace the worn out part?

Rather than replace the whole head, can you get a replacement rubber bit?

What worries me is that it's only 12 years old and obviously an antique in electrical terms. My vacuums seem to last about 25/30 years.
Perhaps I should use them more.

  • What you need is a small extension bit, go over come the problem of the small brush, or simply an extension without the brush on?

I expect loads are throwing good hover bits way, indeed whole good hoovers.

Maybe you can get one from the place the council have for you to dump stuff?
  • All you need is a pipe which fits both ends, I assume that small brush is detachable?

If you just saw the brush off it might work.

I'm going to visit the council dump tomorrow and have a look. I know they sometimes have old vacuum cleaners. I just have a feeling that nothing will fit this. But it's worth a go. I'm not very keen on the dustpan and brush idea :rotfl:

I doubt the rubber bit itself can be replaced. I wouldn't know where to start with that. And the top end of the pipe has a part that 'clicks in' inside the handpiece. It wouldn't be possible to just shove another tube on there. I'm starting to wonder if all these fussy fittings are deliberate so that people have to buy new stuff instead of getting parts easily.
