I have an old (about 12 years old) panasonic vacuum cleaner which still works perfectly. The floorhead thing needs replaced as the rubber has come away and it's now really hard to push it around. It's also leaving marks. I've rang panasonic and they no longer stock parts so they gave me a number that has spares for older models. But that place said I have no chance of finding any parts for it as it's obsolete.
it's very frustrating as I don't want to have to buy a new vacuum cleaner just for this one part. Also, the modern ones are low wattage. Mine is very high powered and I want to keep it as long as possible. Does anyone know of any other places I could try?

You might be better looking at buying another of the same hoover. You might find one with a faulty motor etc and you can swap out the parts.
Alternatively if youve got the part number google it, should show anyone who can supply it.
Sorry being pendantic but it doesnt work perfectly if its really hard to push around. :cool:0 -
espares does quite a few generic spares for household machines .
We have used them lots of times.0 -
I'd second e-spares for "bits" for older appliances0

If you're being pedantic, it's not a hoover, it's a vacuum cleaner - in this case a Panasonic one!Make £2025 in 2025

I've tried espares but they only have a 'universal' one which won't fit because mine has a pin on the tube. It's hard to describe but it won't work. eBay doesn't seem to have anything suitable either.
Panasonic gave me some phone numbers to try but they all said they have nothing as it's so old. I can't do without a vacuum cleaner for long. I'm starting to give up now. Maybe I should just buy a Miele. It's such a shame when the thing still works!0 -
Maybe try putting an "Item Wanted" post on your local Freecycle group? It's surprising what you can find on there.Be kind to others and to yourself too.0

Are you able to post a photo of the offending part? (I have several bits of defunct vacuum cleaner in the garage).0

I concur with the e spares place too if you can't find on ebay. Although its going back about 15 years or so the 'new' gas cooker we had only had one shelf (this I knew) but the cost from the shop who shall remain nameless for a "replacement" to have two shelves was a Kings Ransom.
The spares place not only had one it was about 1/3rd of the price and it was either genuine or such high quality it was about identical to the original one. Result = two shelves + saving.
I do have an ancient Vax upstairs (one of the first huge orange things) but it does not have any 'water' bits anymore, I just use it for upstairs vacuuming. Downstairs is an old mini hoover that came from Comet (remember them?) donkey's years ago although it has been reliable. Bags and filters can usually be found online if not locally.
On topic agree with pics, it would be worth spending a few minutes at least looking for parts diagrams or suchlike for it, you may be able to find something suitable.0 -
Here's a pic. It's only the actual floorhead that's the problem but the 'generic' ones won't fit because of the smaller brush on top which is held on by that metal pin. The floorhead nozzle goes inside that.0
