Hi,
Carte orange is handy! I got the photocard, but my friend got away with no photocard by buyin it from the machine.
You can also buy a book of carnets; works on buses, trams and tube - single only though and none transferrable. You get 10 for about 11euros-ish.
There are lots of supermarkets dotted around Paris, be sure to pack low priced stuff like mineral water etc.
Also, if you are near louvre and didn't carry any mineral water, then you can buy it from the people carrying it in buckets for 1euro. I bought a bottle from the stand for about £2/£3, 2 mins before I saw the guy with the bucket lol.
If I were you, I wouldn't cut back on too much. The food in Paris is fantastic, especially the patisseries. Enjoy the local stuff as much as you can within your budget! Baguette meals etc are around £4 but taste awesome.
Eiffel Tower was 11euros to go to the top and 4euros to mid level I think. Be warned, whole experience can take a while - it took me 2.5 hours-ish!
You can find touts selling standard souvenir stuff for quite cheap like keyrings etc - haggle!!
HTH,

there is a great little handbag shop (sorry, I know handbag shopping is not the same as saving on food and drink) called Petite Mendigote, and I think the closest metro is sevres babylone.
They do quite unusual designs and are reasonably priced. When I was there in july there was a half price sale on, which helped!
Have a great timeNot buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!0
