Do bear in mind that less than 1 per cent of graduates who apply to the fast stream are successful. And in any case, the point about fast stream is not that it is highly paid (often it only pays as well as an EO or HEO position) but that it prepares you for rapid promotion to the very highest grades.

However, as a civil servant you will have access to a wide range of unadvertised vacancies for which only civil servants can apply. Some of these positions are extremely attractive. Do bear in mind that your manager will know if you register for the section of the web page that lists these vacancies, and if you apply for any of them.
