SCS Law letter debt owed to CP plus ltd

Options
Hi i am new to this forum and would like some advice on some PCN notices from CP plus ltd (with reference to Meadowhall retail park). Today I have received a letter from SCS law acting for CP Plus with reference to a number of PCN notices and DRP letters. they have requested payment of in excess of £3000.00 they have given me 30 days or they are instructed to issue court proceedings.
The original PCN's were for parking in a no staff parking zone despite being a member of staff even though, I the vehicle owner do not work at Meadowhall, my partner uses my car and has been ripping up the PCN notices up (as do most of her co workers). she looked on line for advise and concluded that if she ignored them they will go away. She even gets PCNs when shopping.
She works the late shift twice weekly so parks in the Meadowhall carpark (where it is illuminated)when doing so, as I don't agree that a lonely lady should be allowed to walk the 10 minutes to the furthest away carpark in the dark of the night.
Could anybody give me some advice how to proceed, is it to late to approach Meadowhall and CP Plus as I don't have the money they are seeking from me.
regards

A lot of money but do you have a breakdown of the amount ?

SCS Law must provide you with full details as per the
new claims procedure 1st Oct 2017

As you say "with reference to a number of PCN notices and DRP letters"

Forget DRP they are just timewasting debt collectors
who everyone should ignore but I wonder within the amount
if they included debt collector addons .... which they cannot.

How much was each ticket ? £100 maybe ??

This was clearly over a period of time so we would wonder
how many times CP Plus accessed the DVLA per ticket ?

Is the letter you've received titled 'Letter before action', 'Letter before claim', 'Notice of intended court proceedings', or something similar?

The advice to ignore wherever it came from is wrong. It's a shame because these PCN's could easily have been killed off at the POPLA stage.

I very much doubt Meadowhall will help in any way, they seem to be intent on persecuting workers who park in the normal car park that anyone else can park in (even when visiting on their days off). CP Plus definitely won't, you're beyond the appeal stage. Your only option is to respond to CP Plus by writing to them robustly denying the alleged debt and hope they don't start a claim. Though if they do, they should be beatable in court.

Giving the amount involved, there must be ca.30 PCN's and you as registered keeper of the vehicle should have received a 'Notice to Keeper' for each one. Do you have them or have they been binned as well?

As beamerguy in post #4 says, CP plus should request the keepers details for each parking 'event' and therefore each PCN issued. You can ask the DVLA to supply you with the dates when CP Plus have requested from them the keepers details for your vehicle.

This issue at Meadowhall of workers there being given PCN's for parking in the normal public car parks is a major 'scam', with many staff caught up in it. There has even been a story about it run in the Sheffield Star newspaper recently.

There have also been several other threads on this forum re the same problem. Have a look at this thread by pinklady0805.She hasn't posted recently so I don't know how she is going on.

How did the CP Plus operatives determine your wife was a staff member, did she register your car's reg. number on a list of vehicles belonging to staff?
  • Just bumping this thread as don't know if the OP realises his post on the sticky thread was moved here by the mods to start this new thread.

Have you seen these replies and realised we have threads like this one already, and you should not even be thinking about paying the scam at Meadowhall?

Come back, read the thread you've already been shown a link to, and the NEWBIES thread.
