The members of MSE will collectively be spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on unnecessary Rising Damp treatments that are not needed, and the problem does not even exist! This post is an attempt to assist members spending good money on a non existent problem and to warn everyone.

Its a £200,000,000 industry selling chemicals to members of the public after incompetent Surveys by members of the Property Care Association (PCA). Their "Surveyors" undertake a three day course to be awarded a Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatments (CSRT) certificate. A worthless piece of paper. They then misdiagnosis Condensation as Rising Damp to enable sales of these chemicals. These "Surveyors" are simply chemical salesmen. They are completely unqualified

Fortunately, this sharp practice has been exposed and the Country's leading expert in Building Dampness, Mr Peter Ward has literally been destroying PCA companies for the last 5 years.

Everyone needs to know about this terrible practice and MSE members must clearly draw their own conclusion but at least visit Mr Wards website and view videos and information provided.

Its actually scandalous and this subject needs to go to parliament and have the entire industry shut down by the DTI.

https://www.heritage-house.org/damp-and-condensation/all-about-the-pca.html

The Chairman of the Board of the PCA is actually the Sales Director of Safeguard Chemicals! The entire function of the PCA is to sells its Chairman's products, the saleman CSRT Surveyors are trained in methods to do so. If you search Kenwood PCL you will see how the biggest and apparently best member of the PCA operates.

It beggars belief that this can happen in 2017 {Text removed by MSE Forum Team}

    Old news.

    Use the search function.

    and why are you raising this now? It is 18 months since you had issues of damp with your victorian purchase.
  • Sorry, but you only just realised that this practice can be unnecessary and damp surveys can be carried out by companies who sell their damp proofing services?

    I wouldn't say that its ALL a big conspiracy theory - some properties do genuinely have damp problems that aren't just due to condensation (so a bit of an unjustified 'the world is ending ' post) but even then there are often other solutions.

    So while you have a point, you are also wrong.

    But I hope you feel better now.

    If you look in this forum you will see there are plenty of posts about damp already, including your own.
