Query regards BT showcase channel on freeview

Hi all,
I have a Sumsung SMART TV, which has freeview and is about 4 years old. I use Sky for TV as I like sports.
I lost BT Showcase on my TV a few months ago so I can't watch any live Champions League football. I know that BT did a re-tuning exercise a few months ago that meant a lot of people could not get showcase. I have tried re-tuning it without any luck.
However, I have an old Sony TV in my spare room and an old freeview TV box. Both are well over 6 years old. Anyway I re-tuned the set top box today and hey presto, I can get BT showcase.
I know that I could connect my freeview box to my main TV but I don't see why my Samsung TV can't pick up the showcase channel; especially as it a lot more modern than my freeview box.
I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions or solutions.
Thanks.

The retune was to change the BT Showcase from SD to HD (standard/high definition). So if your TV doesn't have any HD channels on it, i.e. BBC One HD is on channel 101, then you won't be able to get the BT Showcase channel. Presumably your Samsung TV only has standard Freeview on it, whereas your slightly older Freeview box is an Freeview HD box.
If your Samsung TV does have the other HD channels on it, then I haven't a clue why it's not showing up when you retune.0 -

If your Samsung TV can get HD channels above channel 105 then it should be able to get BT Showcase.0 -
