Tomtop AVOID

Be very careful dealing with this site.
I ordered a mobile phone from this outfit the end of September, one week later I received an email saying the phone was no longer available and was offered another. I declined and asked for a full refund , I am still waiting for it
There have been email exchanges between us regarding the refund and their answer each time was "We have already refunded you" Despite asking for date when the refund was issued they have not answered that one.
On 30/10/2017 their email said they had issued a refund, please wait 3-5 working days. this is exactly 1 month after the same email when they first mentioned they had applied a refund.
In all 8 email exchanges between myself and this outfit.
My bank has now placed a temporary credit on my account which allows this outfit to appeal.
Before dealing with this shower I checked online and they seemed to have a good reputation especially with Trustpilot. I now read that Truspilotis not that trustworthy!
Also bear in mind that Tomtop is a Chineese web site so you are liable for import duties. It is not obvious when you first look at the web site as there is talk of UK warehouse but I'll bet everything comes from China.

Just to add to the experience, 4 days after receiving the initial response to my request for a refund there were 8 fraundulent transactions on the credit card I used. Fortunately my bank contacted me to check if it was me who made the transactions and cancelled them and refunded my account.
I have shopped online for many years and this is the first and only fraudulent use of a credit card I have experienced which makes me suspect there is some connection between the fraud and Tomtop.

  • Thanks for those links, here's the one I got after searching for "Tomtop review"

I'm not allowed to post links but my search brought up a Trustpilot review with a 4* rating.

    try using uktrustpilot

Can I ask why you would use the website ?
  • The mobile phone I ordered got great reviews from various sites but was out of stock at the likes of Amazon. This site was offering it for sale at a competitive price but not so low as to sound warning bells.
Obviously if my review search brought up the trustpilotsite with the 1* review I wouldn't have gone there but with a 4* rating from uktrustpilot I was happy to do business.

This morning I received notification from my bank that this company has finally refunded me

The back on this £180+ chair I bought from them just completely snapped this past week. I was stupid to buy it in the first place, the plastic mould looking at it now where it broke was completely inadequate, more surprised it didn't happen sooner. Didn't expect anything from their "support" guessing any useless warranty may have already run out - but did contact them on the off chance it was a known issue or to try and at least persuade them that it was a design flaw & the product should be recalled...

Just a couple of snippets from the wonderful conversation I've been having with them..

Maybe you should have posted the comments not in a picture that appears to have a size 4 font.

Compared to the standard size 12 font i use your text is tiny.
400% zoom in required to bring it to size 12 ish...

£180? Looks like the £60 chairs sold on ebay..

Certainly a risky product to buy from a non UK company.
