Grrr Ebay buyers

Just a rant ..... I listed an old Yale wireless alarm kit for parts or not working - mainly due to the fact it was old and I couldn’t test it. It did originally work as I’d tried it for a few days but it wasn’t really suitable for what I wanted.

I put all this in the listing. The item sold and the buyer has come back asking what the code is as he needs to set it up today! I did message back stating I could not remember what it is but it might be xxxx. I also sent some links on how to reset the panel to default. I also suggested trying Yale.

I then got a message telling me to ‘rack my brains’ for the code! I politely reiterated what I had already told him and also pointed out that I had sold the alarm as parts or not working. I can’t see this one going away - do you think I’ve got a good case if he tries a SNAD?

It depends, did you say in the listing that you did not know the code?

No - but it was listed as for parts or not working.
To be honest - I can’t even remember setting a code - thought I would have left the factory default.

Telling you or asking you...? Not such an unreasonable request, really - and a polite answer should, with luck, make the issue go away. Just accept that ebay is littered with buyers who don't read the details - and proceed accordingly.
  • It's a very "alarming" situation! ...
