Old Style Daily Sunday 19th November

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning everyone

It's been a roller coaster of a few days here with the hospital finally letting Becky come home for the weekend. Of course it has been bitter sweet as it is very obvious Becky is not a well girl and the first night she had the opportunity to do so,she hurt herself. Fortunately she isn't too badly hurt and didn't need any medical assistance but it has been a massive worry.

I managed to grab a few hours sleep last night and I have just finished talking to her nurse at the hospital. She was lovely and has reassured me a lot. She will be talking to Becky later on today as well. I can tell you all though, even with all the worry I still love having Becky home with us and we will be working hard to bring her home for Christmas.

Lilly has her friend sleeping here at the moment. They went to a party last night and her poor friend watched her boyfriend 'accidently' kiss another girl. She is heartbroken as you can imagine. I would not give any money to be a teenager again that's for sure. Anyway, food was requested so they took pizza and ice cream up to their room and they are sound asleep now.

Elona, you sounded as if you had a lovely evening with your family. I love reading about you and your dd's spending time with each other.

Judi, wow, what can I say. Grump seems to have a right bee in his bonnet. Sending you a load of hugs and patience xx

Lamewolf, I have been reading on another of your threads how upset and worried you are. Offering you a paw and a waggy tail from my Maxy boy. I really hope things settle down again for you and your DH.

Today I am hoping and praying will be a quiet day. Steve is cooking roast pork for lunch, I am planning a seriously long nana nap and then will knit another fairy mouse for Christmas.

Hope you all have a fabulous day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread Dumping hugs to you and anyone else in need.

I went out for a meal last night with my two sons and dil's, we had a lovely catch up.

Hubby and I had a lazy day yesterday and will probably have a other one today, snuggled up in front of the fire.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING. Blooming 'eck a cold start here this morning - a frost everywhere and the thermometer outside the kitchen window is hovering around 0 deg! But at least it's fine with evidence of the sun showing itself today.

Such a worry for you DUMPLING. I'm glad you got Becky home for the w/e but at the same time I'm so sorry it didn't work out well. I know it's easy for me to say but it's still early days.

I actually had a good sleep last night and slept right through until 6.20. That must be a record for me. If only every night was like that!

I have been putting it off all week but this morning I am off to TKMaxx on the other side of town. It's not a big one by TKMaxx standards but I am hoping to spot some more Christmas gifts for the menfolk. I also want to go in the nearby £oundstretcher as I am on the lookout for a 2 or 3 stepstool thing.

There are some minted lamb chops defrosting for Mr TA, which I shall do with mashed spuds and veg. I shall prep them before my shopping trip. A piece of chicken defrosting for me.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who want/need them. Take care all xx

    Hugs to you dumpling.
Well done csarina, sounds like you had a profitable day.

Got 2 loads of washing nearly dried outside yesterday, none to do today. The bedding smelled wonderful when I went to bed, it seems to smell fresher when it's been dried outside on a wintry day.

Sewing today, keeps me out of trouble but I do make such a mess everywhere!

Have a good Sunday, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Thank you for starting us off nmlc.

Dumpling Hugs to you and Becky as well as the rest of the family.
Nmlc I’m glad that you enjoyed the catch up with your friend. It’s so nice to see someone who you haven’t seen for a while.
Camelot It’s good to hear that your arm is getting better.
Lainey I do feel for you with all this extra expense. I know how I felt when the washing machine then fridge freezer gave up a couple of months ago.
Nelski Another one here who likes James Martin and Simon Rimmer, like you, I watch both of them at the weekend.
Judi Hopefully Grump doesn’t really intend to move to another country. I have heard that things are slow at the moment. Hopefully he will bend a bit and consider taking some work that he isn’t too keen on for a short while.
TA I’m pleased to hear that Mr TA is feeling a bit better.

I spent a day yesterday doing not a lot, so feel that I should at least make some sort of an effort to get a few things done today.

I have made a list, including dusting the sitting room and bedroom, cleaning the bathroom and hand washing a couple of jumpers. How much of this gets done remains to be seen.

My brother and sister in law are calling in this morning. They want to park here while they go and do some Christmas shopping in town. A neighbour went up to the town yesterday afternoon and she said that it was very busy. A couple of people have mentioned this; it seems that people are starting their shopping a bit earlier this year.

Hugs to everyone who is unwell or struggling at the moment.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Good morning everyone from a cold and bright mid-Argyll. Rain is due soon so that’ll change.

My day wil be spent on paperwork. The organisation I do voluntary work for has asked me to take on some admin stuff on a temporary basis which needs to be submitted to the council by tomorrow. Fingers crossed it won’t take too long.

Sending out virtual hugs to those who can use them.

    Happy Sunday.

    Morning everyone,

Gosh it's cold here this morning, had to scrape the car first thing and Lulu was out in her field at just gone 7, she kicked up her heels and charged round so happy to be out :)

My heart goes out to you and your family Dumpling it really does, as TA wisely says it's still early days and hopefully things will slowly start to improve x

The garage fixed my car with no charge and sheepishly admitted that it could have been a spark plug not tightened up correctly, i dont mind as accidents happens but it's the way businesses deal with them that matters, our village garage is usually very good and will continue to get my trade.
Not much planned for today, not sure about riding later as chest still tight and wheezy so will see, the SC is on with a beef stew inside so that's our meal sorted for later.

Have a good day folks x

Dumpling I'm glad for you and I'm sad for you. You deserve a break.. lets hope things are better by Christmas
HollyH oh yes my two favourite men :) Its Simons turn for our attention this morning:A

Chilli with tortillas and cheese last night which went well with Strictly :) Got some cooked lamb out for today so will be cooking a pile of roast tatties, leeks, sprouts and carrots to accompany.

Really want to do the usual Sunday batch cook or bake today but I am committed to using up my freezer/cupboard food mountain and adding loads more is against the rules :D

So its chilling with Simon and Sunday Brunch for me with some advert cleaning then maybe an afternoon film

Have a good day all :A

Lovely bright day here and we have a load on the line, im not sure it will dry but it will small nice !

Got more xmas shopping done yesterday I think Im there now apart from the 'hamper' for the out laws, my mil has been ill for years and is not strong enough mentally to go out shopping etc so my fil does it all and I think they have the same thing over and over, I buy them a bag for life filled with luxury goodies that they would not buy themselves and wrap it up individually in tissue, they absolutely love unwrapping it all and then they get the treat of eating all the goodies, I love doing this for them.

Not sure what we are eating today we need to go shopping will take OH with me for lugging things about, got to get things that we can cook in the microwave for next week as the kitchen is coming out next week and we shall be 'cooking' in the study as well as making hot drinks !

Dumpling im so sorry about Becky, poor girl :( it is very early days though xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

Dumpling so glad Becky was allowed to come home after all. If its any consolation Grumps nephew self harmed in his late teens/early 20s but the stage passed and as a man in his early 30s, a nicer man you couldnt meet. Im hoping the same for Becky.

Sleepless night for me but im still smiling (even if it is through gritted teeth).

    Today I must

    [STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Clean kitchen window as its minging[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Sunday roast. Pork and stuffing[/STRIKE]

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all
