Sorry, I don't really know what a system accountant role is tbh.
How about these?

I've only ever skirted the edge of Oracle. I do know that if you're not prepared to embrace different technologies you'll find your career stunted.
Edit: There seems to be a lot of vacancies on Linkedin0 -
It shows how prices have change with time, the nationwide graph is the only one I can find that goes back that far. It might not give you an overall picture of affordability now but it show how it compares over time.
No. The intention of the graph is clearly to show you earnings to prices, and it is just false information.0 -

Its not about not embracing different technologies it's lack of options. Also even though I do not need to be a qualified accountant for my role (all previous managers have also said it's pretty much pointless being qualified) as there are qualified system accountants around my CV would generally be at the bottom of the pile.
I'm studying an OU course in something completely different as I know won't really go much further unless I go into consultancy and that involves living out of a suitcase which I would hate.0 -

Nothing wrong with a bit of consultancy, it can get you to some interesting places - it'll only drive you nuts if you've got a family. It's also great to see how companies operate and look at things from view points they don't see thing from.0

I'm stupid.. I can live anywhere (Solution Architect role, remotely based) but I still live within the M25 because of family.
That’s not stupid, family is important to lots of people. It shouldn’t be dismissed like it so often is in these discussions where people are casually told to me be hundreds of miles from their communities and the people they most care about just to be able to afford to live!
Some people are happy to move longer distances, others aren’t, but it should be a choice surely not necessary?0 -

Some people are happy to move longer distances, others aren’t, but it should be a choice surely not necessary? My wife's family are an important part of our lives and I would never seperate my kids from them and all their cousins. Oddly enough, my Brother in law has done just that. Moved to the USA, took his wife and kids, because they can live in a house bigger than my street. Their kids only get to visit once a year now.
It's a tiny bit frustrating knowing that if I want to move home I face a £10-20k stamp duty fee.. but if I moved up North I could clear my mortgage.
I did move 200 miles from my family for my first job and it was important to do so.0 -
So you don’t see that a graph showing full time male earnings to house price over time indicates how prices have changed over time, just because it doesn’t confirm your ideas it doesn’t mean it isn’t correct. Prices have increased and fallen over time you can see that on the real house price graphs.
Ahem...ahem....slight error in post "full time male earnings".......:cool:0 -

...and the right to stay in "home area" too if one chooses to....
Re the poster moving 200 miles from home area for instance - their choice - BUT people are used to level of facilities (or otherwise), weather, general environment and yep....mindset. It is astonishing just how different all of that can be within the same country....and hence I fully agree with people being entitled to "stay put" if that's what they want...
Agreed with - for once.0 -

If you can find some figures to compare average earnings to house price over time feel free to post them.0
