Thinking of buying a gaming laptop for normal use

I am thinking of buying the following gaming laptop as I want an Asus laptop with a ssd, i7-7700HQ and at least 12 GB RAM and the only one I can find is a gaming one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-GL502VM-FY172T-15-6-inch-Gaming-Titanium/dp/B0714MK3ZN/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1511033311&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+gl502vm

I've never played a computer game in my life and don't intend to start, but I want it for my work as I work from home. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get a gaming laptop?

My Sony Vaio which was just over 4 years old had an i7 processor and 8GB RAM has just died and it was quite slow when I had several browers open (which I have to have for work) so I think I need more than 8GB RAM.

Thanks

'Kin ell. That's a bit overkill.

The lack of a SSD was the reason your Sony Vaio was slow probably coupled with the almost obligatory CPU fan blocked with fluff at that age so the CPU would have been throttling its speed but my bet is the asthmatic slow as a pig hard drive that it was fitted with. It wasn't the 8GB because my older desktop which my parents now have which is at least 6 years old with only 4GB of RAM in managed just fine. My current 3 year old Core i5 gaming PC only has 8GB in and it copes just fine. The common thing between them both is they both have SSD drives.

Do you need a Core i7? Just what advantage do you think it'll give you? None at all is my guess.

    So reasons why not to:
    1) Weight. They're going to be very hefty
    2) Battery life. Expect no more than a couple of hours.
    3) Depreciation. It'll drop like a stone.

Thanks for your reply. So would a slow hard drive affect the Memory on the Task Manager? The Memory on my Vaio was always around 95% unless I closed some of my browsers.

Thanks for the reasons why not. Weight and battery life aren't a problem as I never take it out of the house or use it on its battery.
