parking charge letter for overstay

the driver concerned did not see the signage of a maximum parking time, even though they had been to the retail park hundreds of times previously -.-.
i have looked through.. and well.. read a lot of things on here, including the newbie thread, and im still at a loss as to what to do first...
i am the registered keeper but wasnt the driver, and i think im panicking, and scared of having to go to court, and was going to pay the 60 reduced fee until i saw loads of people on here say i would be stupid to do such a thing ...
the infringement was a week ago. the letter states that action will be taken, as per the beavis high court judgement case. and very dark pictures of my registration plate, along with the entry and exit times which cannot be argued with (an hour too long)
i admit the trip took longer than usual, where on top of some xmas shopping, a visit to pets at home to register and book in my pets with the new vet there (which took forever.) All was on the same retail park, which can be proven. driver had no regard for parking times and restrictions to be fair, as they did not realise there was one in place.
is this still worth fighting for.
thanks in advance for any info and guidance x

The first post in the NEWBIES thread tells you exactly how to deal with this.
Just send the blue template appeal to Smart.
That's all at this stage. So simple.
Edited to add:
I see you have now deleted the company's name.
Why is that?
If the company was not Smart, then you will need to determine which appeal should be sent.0 -
yes it is smart parking but i thought i read somewhere not to mention company names etc... or maybe it was in a different context i dont know .. im panicking0
-
No problem with mentioning the company name.
Just send the blue appeal as it is, no adjustments necessary, making sure that you choose options on their website that do not identify the driver. You are appealing as the keeper.0 -
thank you so much for your quick response and guidance, i have sent the blue template.
nervous and feel sick now, i will write what comes of it.
thanks again0 -
I am the registered keeper but wasnt the driver,
Don't feel nervous and sick. You CANNOT LOSE at POPLA v Smart, when you weren't driving.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
just an update all. would like to thank everyone who's helped and let you know that today I received a letter from smart parking telling me they are cancelling the charges after noting "the points" that I raised.
I used the template on here and just sent that with no other words.
once again thanks so much, I am veryy grateful xx0 -
Great. Must be a relief0
