Just spoke to an electrician, he said the phone is safe, but the charger is the problem, and that will have caused the blackening on the pins, plus the sound the phone is now making. Either way, phone safe to handle and switch on and off.

All too much for me, lol

If the socket has had something in there sparking, the socket itself will be burnt inside. You need to replace the socket before using it again.
  • Is there any yellowing around the "holes" on the wall socket?

    Thanks. No yellowing.

I've just discovered it's my mobile phone making the weird noise. electrician told me it's due to a faulty charger and to get a new charger. I think it might have been because I dropped the phone yesterday and cracked the screen. :(

Thanks. The socket just had the charger still plugged in there. The phone wasn't attached to it, but I've just discovered that it is my mobile phone making the noises. Electrician said the phone is safe but use a new charger from now on. I think it's because I dropped the phone yesterday.
  • I have heard of cheap Chinese copies of phone chargers killing someone, a young boy when his counterfeit phone charger killed him.
I think to be safe I would switch the power circuit off first if the power socket is unswitched rather than touch the charger.
personally I do not trust anything from Ebay or Amazon nowadays to be genuine. Its unbelievable the number of fakes in electrical stuff
