Recommend me a combi programmer/thermostat please

After so guidance please. I have an elderly relative who currently has a Siemens REV100 to operate their combi heating. The combi is a Valiant ecotec pro 28. The REV100 only has to wires to it, presumably + and - as they are moderately thick wires.

All they need to be able to do is set the heating to come on twice a day, and to be able to switch it on at will if needed. The Siemens is a pig to try and use, and it seems to switch the heating on in the middle of the night if you leave it on times, so time for a change.
What would people recommend please, and iff possible, an easy fit utilising the present wires.

  • I'd go for a Digitstat +3RF. Once set, it runs itself and the elder needn't worry about turning on and off

Perhaps a Vailalnt's own thermostat would simply go hand in hand with the boiler.

    http://amzn.to/2jEqiez - a basic non-programmable model with a dial on it.
http://amzn.to/2hKr6yc - a programmable one but almost double expensive.

I am sure you can always find other cheaper Honeywell, Salus, DigiTherm models.

    All the best.
