You send money from your BT card to the card with an outstanding balance. That amount pays-off your debt, either in full or partially.
Usually you can transfer 90 or 95% of your credit limit (leaving room for the transfer fee without exceeding your limit).0 -

Try the eligibility checker at https://creditcards.moneysavingexpert.com/?balance-transfer and check what your credit files look like at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/check-free-credit-report
and/or post back with more details about what cards/limits/balances/APRs you currently have and people may be able to offer more specific advice....0 -

You might get a guide from the card information - some say a credit limit if accepted of between x and y.
You may be asked on the application the minimum amount of credit that would be useful to you. If you state 3k and are accepted you should have 3k or more, but they may decline you rather than offer a lesser amount if they are not willing to offer 3k.
If you are paying interest on a balance and are offered any limit at 0% it's worth having, as the overall cost of your debt will likely decrease. It's just a question of weighing any transfer fee against the 0% period offered, the interest you'll save and when you'll be in a position to clear the balance.0
