Restricted bank accounts with Direct debits

Hope I am in the correct place and heading wasn't too mis-leading.
Next April I am planning to spend 8-10 months yearly abroad.
I am looking for a bank or savings account which I cannot transfer money out of online but that I can pay DD or standing orders to pay my mortgage and associated house costs.
I want to minimise the temptation for overspending hence no online transfers.
Many thanks in advance

Hiya Yorkielobeit
I’m not sure you’ll find a personal account that doesn’t allow internet banking. You could just tear up the bumf that comes with the account or not sign up for it! So you don’t know your log in details :)but being abroad you may well need online access to make some adjustments! Quite a conundrum

Why would you be any less disciplined with your money when you are abroad than when you are at home? What "foreign" scenarios do you envisage that would make you spend more than you have?0

Personally I'd have thought it would be in a long-term traveller's interest to maximise access to funds rather than minimise it, since there are many scenarios where access to money could be compromised (card loss, system issues, transaction declines, etc) and the impact of some of these would be exacerbated when abroad by not being able to go to branch or receive post in a timely manner.
Willpower is the answer to the temptation issue....0 -
