Mac help please

Help please.
My husbands mac book is clogged up with deleted emails. How can he clear them???

    Are you using the mail application in OS X?

    On the menu bar at the very top click on Mailbox, Erase Deleted Items, All Mailboxes.

    Or

    Click on the Mailboxes button icon on top left. Expand the folders below and you'll find the Trash. Select that, "right click" (two finger tap on touchpad), select Erase Deleted Items.
