SKYPE on Android phone

Hi all, I have been unable to access my skype for some months now,
despite using correct username and password...
I know they are correct, as I CAN access skype via my laptop.

Has microsoft altered something since they took over skype,
I have not knowingly altered any settings on my Huawei Ascend
smartphone,
Do I need to do something with VPN or DATA settings ??

any advice much appreciated, cheers

MS took over SkyPE back in 2011.

Don't forget with SkyPE you can sign in with your username, email address or phone number so try all three on the phone. Also ensure you have the latest version of the software from the App store.

Thanks Neil, been going round in circles with this, there's loads of complaints on the skype helpline about this problem,
I may not have the latest version, but it seems that's created a lot of problems for android users, and Microsoft don't care

I dumped skype , i use whatsapp or Viber both free

jolly good, but i have credit with skype to call overseas landlines,
works fine from a laptop or desktop.
Cant do that with whatsapp, no idea about Viber ??

I'm not that clued up on the android world and smart phones but I know that the android platform is more fragmented than IOS. What version of android is on your device?

What I can tell is Skype has stop supporting any device running 4.0.2 and below and With the iPhone its IOS 7 so it might not work at all or have major bugs.

What version of android can your smartphone take?

U can use your microsoft password on skype as well to login,the handset app is not user friendly.

FWIW I've just opened Skype on my Huawei P9 Lite and logged in just fine with my usual username and password as used for the desktop version.
