TSB Refusing to Pay £130 Switching Bonus

Can anyone help? I applied for the TSB Bank Account with the Switch bonus, and was accepted. I read all the T&Cs before applying as TSB were not the most convenient bank, but offering the best deal. The final stage of the process was to provide my existing bank details online. TSB system said that they couldn't complete this online and I would need to do this in branch. The reason I find out, is that my current bank is closing (Virgin One - which is part of RBS), and they are not part of the 7 day switch over guarantee, but said it could take up to 21 days - fine. However, TSB are saying that I must be able to do online, and meet the 7 day guarantee. On MSE web-site, the terms do not say that I have to do this all online? Im now stuck, as TSB arent budging and I believe I have met the T&Cs on the MSE site, which says apply by 4th Dec and switch by 21st Dec. I dont want to try opening yet another bank account if I dont have to, but the TSB people said all they can do is report it as a complaint. Is there a disparity between what is on the MSE site and what TSB are using?

The T&C say you have to use the Current Account Switch Service. If Virgin One are not part of this then this is why you are not eligible.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -
The terms and conditions clearly state that you need to complete a full switch using the Current Account Switching Service which takes 7 working days. So you haven't met the T&C for the offer.0

Hi - thanks for the replies. I agree with you both, it just doesnt say that I have to do it online, which is what TSB said when I rang them. I can walk into the TSB branch tomorrow and give my details, but TSB said this is a manual switch over.0

It's still worth having the account for the interest on up to £1500.0 -
True. They said I could still have the £5 month DD payment and £5 if use debit card 20 times per month, its just the £130 they are not willing to pay!0

When you click the affiliate link here on MSE (or on moneysupermarket.com) you're taken to the TSB website. Just above the "Apply" button you will see...Scottie1971 wrote: »Hi - thanks for the replies. That's their emboldening, not mine. Presumably they tried to make it more prominent to encourage applicants to read it. Didn't work did it?To qualify for £130, you must first complete the account application and then the separate online switching form.
But you may be missing a trick here. The MSE write-up gives you a potential back-door entry. Why not try it?0 -
Lol. Thanks YorkshireBoy, nothing like a bit of direct Northerness to bring this Southerner back down to earth! Thanks everyone.0

As I recall from previous threads, the One Account isn't a participant in the Current Account Switching Service and so, as using that is a clearly stated prerequisite for the TSB switching incentive, then you won't receive the £130 if switching manually (as pointed out in posts #2 and #3) - the stuff about online v offline applications is something of a red herring from a doubtless well-meaning but ill-informed CS rep!Scottie1971 wrote: »my current bank is closing (Virgin One - which is part of RBS), and they are not part of the 7 day switch over guarantee
However, it's news to me that the One Account is closing, where did you hear this?0
