What a nightmare day!!!! I got so caught up doing my stock take that I didn't get around to making my soup and just had a quick microwaved jacket spud with some left over grated cheese for lunch. Then later on when I switched on the hob to start making my paella for tea I ran out of gas!!!! So, no heating, no hob and no hot water unless I use the electric shower or boil the kettle!! Grrrr!!!! Tea ended up being an out of date packet of flavoured rice which I could microwave and am just toasting a couple of crumpets as am still a bit peckish and need something yummy to warm me up!!
The only good points are that at least I've made some headway with the stock take, I'm saving money not using/having any heating (!) and I've managed to find the slow cooker which hadn't been unpacked yet even though I moved house months ago!! Found it too late in the day to actually use it to cook anything to eat today but now I've found it, I can use it to save on gas by not cooking on the hob :T
Must remember to ring up and see about getting these horrible pre-payment meters changed to normal ones!! Hope it's not too difficult and can be done quickly as I start a new job on 2nd Jan and have no idea what my shift pattern will be like!! It's step one towards my dream job though and I'm certainly looking forward to the extra £6k a year - on paper if not actually in my bank account!! :rotfl:
**Just thought, the meals I had planned but didn't cook can still be done as none of the food will be any more ready for the bin tomorrow than it was today!!!! Woohoo!!!**:ADFW Nerd 145

Please can I join again.
I would normally go for £80, spent pennies over £80 for the week yesterday to last the week for 5 adults basically, includes everything. Plus £10 for daughters lunches for the week so £90. D's girlfriend has been staying Friday to Sunday night so no more than £100 a week at very most, won't spend more this week anyway.
Not much pennies just now as I've lent money to someone and they don't have all the money to pay it back, lent them £2,500 guarantee you'll have half back nope, now I'm short. Oh well.0 -

Hello. May I join you all again please? Sorry I keep dipping in and out. This year has been a roller coaster including OH's mum passing away over summer after becoming ill this spring. We're finally beginning to stabilize our home life after everything that has gone on this year.
SO. I'm going to realistically high this time around. €350 for December. £200 to stock up in London when we go this weekend. I'm going to buy ALLLLL THE HAGGIS. And cheeses and crackers, etc. I'm also thinking of making food presents for friends this year so will buy baking supplies.
We're 2 adults living in continental Europe with no kids or pets. OH is vegetarian and I eat low(er) carb.
Please and thanks.0 -
I failed disasterously to keep check last month as my SO ended up shopping for two weekends and didn't keep the receipts. (I was ill one weekend and staying with friends the other). He wouldn't even hazzard a guess! :rotfl:
This month I'm trying to stick to £350. I started well with £22.26 spent at Asda and £23.32 at Aldi yesterday.

2 weeks of my month past already, I've had a couple of spends but then went down with the dreaded lurgy this week and cba doing anything much until now. Did a bigger shop last week in Sainsbugs £12.73 = meat, F&V and some cupboard staples and a £5.44 on dairy, bread, fresh fruit & paracetamol = a total spend so far of £18.17/£70.00.
Now that I feel a bit better I'll go plan my weekly menu, I've been a bit lazy lately
Edit - After much procrastination finally drew up a plan, which I should hopefully stick to. Everything is either in the freezer/fridge or store cupboard so technically I shouldn't need to go shopping at all.
Mon - Turkey & Quinoa Meatloaf
Tues - Sweet & Sour Pork, rice
Wed - Falafel & tomato sauce, pasta salad, coleslaw
Thurs - Baked potato, l/o salad.
Fri - Moussaka
Sat - Macaroni Cheese
Sun - PizzaJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £0 -
Spent 50.99€ yesterday, which means about half our budget is gone after 9 days
.
I did buy coffee for the rest of the month and a bottle of Bailey's for Christmas. Also 5 different blocks of cheese (cheese is my weakness!)... So the rest of this month's meals will be cheese themed.
Meal plan for rest of the week:
Today: Chinese stir fry with rice
Tomorrow: cheese and vegetable pastry parcels with chunky chips.
Tues: blue cheese risotto with chicken
Wednesday: pasta with brie, bacon and veg.
Thurs: pizza with wedges and roasted peppers.
Friday: out for dinner.
Need to buy fruit juice, rice, bread and leeks tomorrow.0 -
€2.40 for Moroccan flat bread at a Moroccan bakery.
€24.87 on some staples like bananas, avocados, clementines, etc.
So, €27.27 / €350 so far. I'll see if we can last the week without buying stuff before we leave on Friday morning for London. The only thing I might pick up would be olive oil for about €15 and which will last into the new year.0 -
