Two week budget for me only from 1/12/17 to 14/12/17 as after that until 04/01 it will be my separate Christmas fund. Please put me down for £60, thanks0

I'm in again. I'm going to try for £400 again as this month has gone well but it is Christmas (must put in butcher order this week!) and we'll have my Mum with us for around a week, and there'll be extra wine and my stepson and his partner with us for Boxing Day. Plus we are finally moving house on the 6th, I'm planning on freezer eating the first few days for ease and hoping we don't eat any differently but we both have a week off which will mean DH will eat lunch at home whereas it's usually just me (I work from home) and he won't be content with a few oatcakes and bit of cheese and celery and a banana!
Reckon worst case scenario is £450 so if I don't hit target but come in under that I'll be pleased.

Hi can I join please
I've recently found my way back to this forum as I need to start managing our finances a bit better
Can you put me down for £280 pleaseWe'll start at the end of next week as also have a move on the horizon at the end of Nov. We're lucky that we're over at relatives for Xmas tea so hopefully won't need too much extra to spend on food for Xmas week. Good luck everyone

I must say I struggle a bit to understand the rules. The amount in red, is it the budget for a whole month or is it the amount the members declare to lower their budget?
I'm a bit lost, I even might be on the wrong thread, excuse me if I am, just registered after lurking for a while.
I'm looking for a place to slash our food budget as this is the one I'm in charge of. I'm not sure what would be the right way of doing it.
Family of 4, all meat eaters. Living in an !!!! end of nowhere, nearest supermarket 30 miles away.
No takeaways, magazines, bought lunches and such stuff.
Mostly cooking from scratch.
Not a frequent visitor to budget stores like Lidl, Aldi, Home Bargains and such due to distance.
I'm buying long lasting stuff in bulk when it's on the offer which sometimes makes it impossible to stick to a budget ( like 10 jars of coffee)
Already replaced whatever I could (or so I think) with unbranded stuff.
What else I could do?
What could be reasonable amount for 2 adults and 2 kids for food weekly/monthly?
Any suggestions welcome, thank you very much and sorry if posted in wrong section0 -

Hi Camomile, welcome to the challenge.
The number you see in red, is most people's monthly budget, some do annual or weekly, whatever suits your circumstances better.
Do you go to the supermarket or do online shopping? What about top ups of milk and bread etc.
Do you know how much you roughly spend per week/month currently? If not the usual suggestion is to shop as you would normally but make a note of all your spends, then the month after have a go at cutting your budget.
We're a family of 2 adults and 3 children (8,6 and 2) and currently budget for £100 per week, this includes food, drinks, nappies, cleaning products etc. Only middle son has a cooked lunch at school which I don't pay for. The other 2 and hubby have a packed lunch. Could reduce this further but we eat quite a lot of meat and fresh fruits and veg due to me following sl!mming world and the kids loving fruit.Grocery Challenge 2024
