The bank called me out of the blue regarding PPI

Hi all
I have just had a call from my bank, out of the blue, regarding a PPI complaint I made 4 years ago. I was just chancing my luck on loans and c/card PPI and never heard anything back.

The bank asked me about mortgage PPI today and if I had any documentation to show I've been paying PPI on my mortgage for the passed decade.

Does this type of out of blue call mean I am going to get some money?

I never thought PPI was put on mortgages (stupidly). I asked them if I was mis-sold on the call and they said they were going to write to me.

As anyone had this type of proactive contact from a bank/BS about PPI?

Comments

  • No. It means they are asking if you can prove you had PPI.

Some banks were instructed to go back over old rejected complaints and review them again. Where it was found that the assessment was wrong or incomplete, they were required to get further information. Also, some banks, such as Barclays, have been putting old paper data, that was not originally available to the complaints handlers, onto their systems and revisiting old complaints to see if anything was missing.

None of this is an indication itself as to whether you get more. The info may verify that the original decision was correct. It maybe that new info changes the original decision and money is paid. You cant predict what will happen.
