Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Brr..... its a frosty start here this morning but the geraniums are still going strong......I really must clean the tray and get the ones in that I want to keep. The sun is shining so the sitting room is warming up nicely.
Workmen here this morning to clear the moss off the roof at the front. Do not want water seeping into the attic which is what happens. Will also get them to clear the gutters. No way we can do them ourselves.
We watched the documentary last night about the Kings Cross fire....it brought back memories for me. My youngest DD was a nanny in Stanmore, London; the following morning I travelled down to stay with her for a few days, the smell was horrendous and hung in the air, there was chaos around the main entrance to KC tube station. So sad. Having said that, the survivors they interviewed received magnificent care from the nursing staff but most of all from the plastic surgeons who operated on them. Their recovery took many years, the mental scars will be with them for ever but those surgeons did a magnificent job.
Time to go and sort out the car and pack it ready for tomorrow. We lent DD2 the trolley to move her fridge freezer, its in the car, we need to get it out then I can use it to load the boxes etc for the fair in the morning. We are off later on to set up.0 -
Morning all,
Gers - Thanks for enlightening me. Hope your arms ok today.
Yesterday evening I turned down the offer of going to my friends in favour of finishing some baking, doing some washing and catching up on some TV. Not terribly exciting, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Tonight I don't have any plans as of yet - which is likely to change with it being Friday.
I went to the gym this morning and I went to pick up a rather heavy weight and I've done something to the bottom right of my back. More of an annoyance than anything else. I'll power through.
Jackie - Good luck with it all today.
Have a nice weekend everyone!0 -
Morning all, thanks nmlc for the thread. Quite cold here and am considering putting some heating on IN THE MORNING no less.
I'm going for a walk with a friend this morning, I have knitted toys for her granddaughter so she will get our coffee.
First day of a break and my sinuses are stuffed and head hurts, typical really. Also I think I'm having a skin reaction to the nose pad thingers on my specs, yet another thing I seem to be allergic to, I'm fed up with thus, down with this sort of thing!
Washing on the line, it is cLear but not much of a breeze, still, that might get them to the damp stage rather than wet. More to do in the basket, washing never seems to end does it! Boringest thing ever and it has to be done almost every day.
Some animal has been in my garden I mean yard with a bone, there are sections of bone all over, not sure if it is cat rat or crow, all of which abound. While noticing the bones, I also saw that some bulbs are in leaf, a bit early but hopefully they will be hardy through the bad weather that we are meant to have. I think they are Daffs or narcissi, fingers crossed for flowers.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone.
So far I’ve got myself into the city centre and am now whiling away a little time as I’m early for my appointment. At least I’ve remembered to bring my glasses with me, I only use them in the house and keep a spare pair in the car too.
After that I’m going back to collect DM as she wants to do more shopping.
My arm was is not sore from the jag, perhaps I’m lucky. I feel for Camelot with her multi-jags.
Happy Thursday folks.0 -
Morning all
Another one with the heavy frost apparently, I slept for 12 hrs so I missed it ! Mr Fix It took DD to meet her colleague early this morning as they are car sharing, they are on a 3 day seminar on " mindfulness" in Cardiff. Good job he's an early riser.
I have stripped the bed, washed it and hung it on the line, the sun is out so I'm hoping it will dry a little. I also noticed that we have been having a very large dog ( type of thick set Greyhound ) jumping our 6ft fence. It has now broken the top of the fence  and I don't know how to stop it coming over other than adding more fence height. But then how much is enough to stop it ?
After lunch I have to dust and hoover the bedroom and then remake the bed. Next I have to sort out the finances, money needs to be shifted from one account to another as I have the quarterly gas and electricity bills to pay.
Tea tonight will be jacket potato with something out of the freezer. Normally I know exactly what's in there but lately it seems to be tales of the unexpected :rotfl:.
HollyH you dirty stop out ! :rotfl:. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself though.
Hester are you still enjoying your retirement ? I do hope so.
Many hugs to the poorly or worried and I hope you enjoy your Friday.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Afternoon all
Lovely and bright here, but it is cold. I have the bedding on the line in the sunshine. I found a tear in the bottom fitted sheet so must replace it. The ironing is done and I shall shortly be making mushroom omelettes with salad for lunch. DH is topping up the pea gravel alongside the new fence as it has sunk a little in places. The rest of the drive is patterned brick.
We get all these sort of things done when we don't have childcare responsibilities. DH is going to a model rail exhibition in Thornbury tomorrow so won't be able to do it then.
Well hugs and spoons to all who need them and have a good afternoon folks,

csarina, I remember the King's Cross fire very well. DH went through the station, including all the parts that were affected only a few minutes before it must have started. He was also on the tube train immediately before the one that was blown up at Edgeware Road in 2007. I remember how relieved I was when I was able to contact him and DD (who was turfed off a bus when they shut down the transport systems in London).0

Afternoon again.
Snoozer - how scary to have your DH so close to two tragedies, he must have a wee guardian angel with him.
My opticians appointment went well though I really dislike the puff of air being directed at my eyes. The urge to blink is impossible to overcome. Anyway, my eyes are healthy and no changes. I’ve ordered a new pair of spectacles as the ones I keep for occasional use are at least seven years old and my eyes have changed since then. The whole cost for them was only £59.00 as I get £100.00 towards them because I’m a direct debit contact lenses customer. I also chose non-big name designer frames and standard lenses. Can’t be doing with high cost big name frames. So, very MSE!
DM didn’t go shopping as I got her an appointment with her chiropodist instead. She really needed it for her sore corn so it was better all round.
Last night I found myself browsing through A*azon Prime for a change. Nothing took my fancy until I came across Lucifer, I only watched the pilot episode which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now I’m going back for more.
Time for a cuppa and a piece of homemade apple cake, a reward for all the running around. :A0 -
Quick pop-in... I am currently working at the university in our nearest city for a few weeks, so not around to post but am reading daily. Loving it, but can't deal with the 6.30am alarm
and am SO looking forward to my lie-ins over the weekend.
Plans for the weekend include tidying and cleaning (lots of), a bit of cooking, some rugby, a bit of sorting and prep for some busy weekends coming up with guests, gigs and good times2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
