O/S Daily Friday 17th November 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was chicken in french country sauce, mash, carrots and broc, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be something and chips for the menfolk, I'm thinking I may make a veggie curry or I may have mushroom omelette and salad.

Yesterday I was more productive than I have been in recent weeks, I seem to have a touch of the lurgy so was taking it steady, just doing a bit in short bursts but you can get quite a lot done that way. I did clean the bathrooms and shove the hoover round upstairs, then hoovered and tidied in the lounge and dining room, also cleaned the kitchen floor, I'll be loading the DW and cleaning the worktops again shortly. I also did all the washing until the basket was empty, there's some towels in the WM that need to go in the TD and I stripped and re-made our bed, so that bed linen needs to be washed.

So on to today ....

I'll be heading to the SM shortly, then coming home and getting the shopping put away, then tackle the ironing pile before my friend arrives, we're going out for lunch just to a local place (haven't eaten there before but it's part of one of the big chains) so should be ok. We've not been in touch as much as I'd like so we're trying to keep a regular meet up for lunch and a catch up in the diary. She has 2 young children after a relationship breakdown and then meeting a wonderful man who absolutely adores her, then having the 2 children with him, she already has an adult son from the previous relationship.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Chilly but fine day in store for us today.

It's the calm before the storm, the 3 girls are still asleep but I will need to wake them up shortly. Let the mayhem begin.

Once they have been thrown in the car for the school run I have the delights of the Friday Tidy and clean round to start on. It seems to be Friday every other day.

I am off to watch the 2 youngest tonight performing in a show arranged by their ballet school. It's in aid of Children in Need. They each have to choose the music and their own choreography. Middle DGD (our prima ballerina) is doing a number to Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl and it looks so professional. Youngest is doing a routine to Little Mix's Black Magic. It's full of cartwheels etc and is more like a gymnastic display!

Not given a thought to today's eats but went shopping yesterday so the fridge is full. I am doing well at eating from the freezer and there should soon be room to start a Christmas stock up. For the 2 days the shops will be closed ha ha!! Determined this year I am not going to go mad - but I say that every year!

Have a good day all and ((HUGS)) for those wanting/needing them. Take care folks xx

    Morning All

Chilly this morning, and that's only inside!

Went for my vaccinations yesterday so can hardly move my arms this morning, swimming will have to wait until Monday. Every time I turned over in bed I woke up, still it'll all be worth it. RR, I'm off to Malaysia for Christmas and New Year.

Not much else happened here, I left my phone in work so had a very quiet evening, felt a little odd as I can't make any calls from the home phone (it was cheaper that way), glad there weren't any emergencies.

Have a happy Friday, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Thank you for starting us off nmlc.

It has certainly turned cold here overnight after a very mild day yesterday. There is a frost this morning.

I managed to get a few y/s ready meals yesterday so if I don’t feel up to cooking I will at least be able to have something other than toast or crumpets.

I had a lovely surprise yesterday evening, a friend phoned and asked me out for dinner as a treat, and she took me to a really nice restaurant that we both like a lot, and then we went to a local hotel for a drink in the bar where we know most of the regulars and the bar manager. It was a really enjoyable evening. I often find that the impromptu ones turn out to be good nights out.

There is a little bit of shopping that I need to do today, and return the things that I collected from M&S yesterday as none of them fit.

Hugs to everyone who is unwell or struggling at the moment.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.
  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Woke at 3.30 am yesterday thought that was bad but it was 2am today. I'm totally exhausted and the day hasn't started.

DH said he wanted to go out today, hope he's forgotten. Don't need any shopping so that's a bonus.

Hope you all have a good day

  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

Brrrr it's chilly here, had to scrape the car windscreen before we could set off.

Hubby's been dropped at work, my plans for today include cleaning the boat inside, cleaning the solar panels as there were 3 bonfires on the marina yesterday, having a leisurely shower instead of a rushed one, having a nana nap, making another porthole bung and starting another crochet blanket.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone,

Bright with a heavy old frost, the perfect Autumn day.

The lurgy thing has gone straight to my chest as always and it feels tight & wheezy, DOH is sniffly and stuffed up, plan is for a spicy prawn curry for tea to clear the old airways :D
Hope you enjoy your meet up nmlc I am also due to meet a friend for coffee in Cambridge which will probably be heaving with C shoppers but it's halfway between our homes so kinda makes sense.
Other than that it's the usual, lunch, few chores than over to see Lulu, will need to hand wash a few bits as well as the downside of a minimised wardrobe is the inability to cope with a WM breakdown.

Have a good day folks x
  • Good Morning chums Bright annd sunny here in kent but quite a frost overnight and the cars are very white outside. I stuck a small wash on last night so its ready to hand out after my morning pot of coffee.

This morning I have the joy of the ear clinic and its at our local hospital so I shall spend at least half an hour finding a parking place then probably another half an hour waiting to be seen (if I'm lucky ,last time it was 50 minutes ) It never runs to time .By then it will be home and some lunch ,then off to the dentists for a check up again as its on a main road another parking hunt but as a rull the wait shouldn't be too long.On both trips I will take my book to read :)Good job I enjoy reading and at least I get to have a sit-down :)
Tomorrow I am off to Hertfordshire to visit the Uni there with my DGS Jack as its where he is hoping to go next September for his degree.Again my book will come with me as he will want to go off on various tutor led groups and when I did the same thing with his older brother Ben at Norwich at least there was a comfy chair and a bottomless coffee pot for the parents and grandparents whilst the youngsters milled around seeing everything they could.Looks like a good bit of reading for me over the next few days:):):)

Hope everyone is warm safe and dry, another week has whizzed by and it will soon be Christmas I have a good bit to buy ,but at the moment just can't find a free day to do it I also have 6 family birthdays between now and then !!!! No doubt it will all get done though it usually does

Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

    Morning

Bloomin cold here....well not really but quite a bit colder than it has been jumper and dressing gown on. Put the bins out this morning and my hand was sticking on the frost

Last night freezer find was sausage casserole and a yorkshire pudding ...lush
I think tonight it will be a steak and kidney pie with some mash and peas

Waiting for my Asda delivery then Im off to Costco to stock up on loo roll kitchen wipes and kitchen towels for both mum and me so the car will be stuffed. Hoping not to be too tempted by other stuff as I could do without too much expense ...mum seems to have forgotten how to pay me for things now and I have never been good about asking for money and particularly with her. Problem with costco is I always see so much must have stuff and end up spending a fortune.

Later today I have some work to help someone ramp up their search for a job so its coaching and cv tweaking. He is lovely but hates any social media like linked in which is where so much recruitment goes on now so it may be any uphill struggle but hopefully worth while :)

Best get on with it then have a good day all :A
