Composite Door - Lock Not Working

Hi All,

A while back I purchased a Rock Door with a (3 or 4 point) multi locking system. Typically to lock the door, you lift the handle and the hooks engage. Then you turn the key to lock the door.

Last night I lifted the handle and it was very loose and there was no engagement of the hooks. Normally when I lift, I apply the pressure with my hand and feel the resistance and crunch and hear the engagement. Now, I hear nothing, no pressure is not needed - The handle is just very loose and floppy when lifted. In fact my little finger can push the handle all the way up.

Does anyone know what I need to replace here please?

Thank you

I am no expert in this topic but I will give it a try. I have never taken the external doors apart but I did take the internal door handles apart several times. From what you say the mechanism that transforms the movement of your handle to the hooks isn't working and that's probably a spindle like hexagonal rod that connects the internal and external handles which when moved by the handles moves the hooks via an internal mechanism.

This is a wild guess and suggest that you speak to you lock smith, or the person who recently installed for as it sounds like it is still under warranty,

    All the best.

Sounds like the square bar that connects the handle to the lock is too short and has moved, easy to take the handle off and have a look, quick fix, pull the bar towards the handle, permanent fix, new longer bar.

Agree with above, if it's not that then the lock is broken, and you toeither replace the centre case or full multi point lock
