Hello there,
I need to sell my house quickly, I was considering contacting one of those companies that purchase houses cash. However I have heard horror stories! can anyone advise a honest and fair one? I am willing to sell my house at a reduced price.
Thanks
Joy

Joy, keep away from the house buying companies - they have a tendency to take unfair advantage of vulnerable people e.g. those in debt. If you need a quick sale you're better off lowering the price some more, or even putting the property in an auction. Both options are more likely to leave you with more money than using one of those companies.
If you're struggling with debt post again on the Debt free board to get advice on what your options might be.0 -
Nobody will recommend one on here (unless they're spamming the board). Try the search facility - that should give you lots of reasons why not to use them - the topic comes up at least every fortnight.
Consider auction if you're desperate. If not, either ask here for advice re you property and why it might not be selling, and/or drop the price.
Good luck.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

so you sold your house and 7 days ago you wanted to know the best place to invest the money....
Slightly confused now that you appear to have a house to sell quickly......frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I would just sell it at the reduced price via a conventional estate agent.
Most of those companies don't really buy your house, they just price it low enough so that somebody will buy it quickly.
As an example:
- Say your house is 'worth' £100k
- They offer you £70k
- They put it up for sale at £85k
If/when they find somebody who'll pay £85k - they sell it for £85k and give you £70k (and keep £15k for themselves).
If they can't find a buyer at £85k - they don't buy it from you.
So why not just ask an estate agent to sell it for you at £85k?0 -
