Caller ID with Post Office Phones

Anyone else losing their Caller ID on Post Office landline phones? I've had my phone and line checked by BT equipment/engineer. Bought a new phone and still no Caller ID even though the time and date are correct and it is Caller ID compatible. Even had a new NTE5 box fitted with same result. PO phones still saying that it's my fault and want to charge me £144 for an engineer's visit if they can find a fault (which sounds a bit suspect) plus charges for any parts and even an extra charge if I miss their call. Disgusting treatment. Can't wait to change providers .

It is rare for Caller ID to fail once provisioned correctly - invariably it is the kit used to display it. It is possible to check the line using a text phone (engineers BUTT) which allows you to listed for the data stream befor the incoming call rings. In the absence of one, a known working phone or display unit should be the only thing plugged in at the Master socket to confirm if is correctly provisioned.0

Try your phone(s) at another house (who also have caller ID) and test them yourself.0
