Caller ID with Post Office Phones

Options
Anyone else losing their Caller ID on Post Office landline phones? I've had my phone and line checked by BT equipment/engineer. Bought a new phone and still no Caller ID even though the time and date are correct and it is Caller ID compatible. Even had a new NTE5 box fitted with same result. PO phones still saying that it's my fault and want to charge me £144 for an engineer's visit if they can find a fault (which sounds a bit suspect) plus charges for any parts and even an extra charge if I miss their call. Disgusting treatment. Can't wait to change providers .

It is rare for Caller ID to fail once provisioned correctly - invariably it is the kit used to display it. It is possible to check the line using a text phone (engineers BUTT) which allows you to listed for the data stream befor the incoming call rings. In the absence of one, a known working phone or display unit should be the only thing plugged in at the Master socket to confirm if is correctly provisioned.
  • Try your phone(s) at another house (who also have caller ID) and test them yourself.
