Need help!!! mattress causing back pain from IKEA lost receipt

Hi guys,
Both me and my partner are suffering from back pain that maybe caused by IKEA MORGEDAL mattress that we purchased in June 2015.

Due to it has been a while and we have lost the receipt.

Ive contact IKEA via chat and facebook message but still finding it difficult.
They would be able to send someone to inspect the mattress only if they can find proof of purchase.

They have asked me
- Date of purchase -
- Total amount spent -
- Last 4 digits of your card -
- Family Card number -
- The store you visited -

- Date of purchase - I went on a weekend in June between 11th to 21st, so 13 / 14/ 20 /21 four dates are possible
- Total amount spent - over £450 including mattress, sofa, bedside table etc
- Last 4 digits of your card - IVe used gift cards :(
- Family Card number - I did swipe it but I was told it only save data for 4 months record
- The store you visited - Lakeside

I wonder if anything I can use to help with my case?

Thanks

Theyre tryin gto find your reciept.

The more detailed you can be the easier it is to find. Off your initial answers i wouldnt bother looking at all. They will have hundreds of transactions (if not thousands) over £450 over two weekends from one store.

Paying by gift card might help you in that it should narrow down the transaction list quite a lot. What you might struggle with is your response is that broad it wouldnt be too far fetched for you to be a chancer and they happen to find a reciept that matches the vague details.

I dont think ikea use barcodes primarily? So if you can remember as many of the product names you bought at the time they might be able to search for those to help narrow it down and verify your validity.

As an aside you spent over 2 years in a bed giving you a bad back? Beds are very personal items. I prefer very hard beds and soft beds will give me back ache. My OH prefers soft beds but can cope with hard beds. I think youd have had more success chasing this up sooner (ie within the month or so theyll have given you to try it out). It cant have possibly taken you two years to work out it was the bed causing pain?
  • What are you trying to achieve? A refund? Replacement? Compensation? I'm confused.

Any normal person would realise they made a mistake and buy a new bed/mattress.
  • I have provided them with the large items on the list and they have found my receipt in couple mins since it may be easier to look at items sold. Imagine they dnt sell a hundreds of sofa in a day in one shop?

They booked a 3rd party inspection guy to contact me and carry out the check.

We only moved in this flat since May 2017 and started to use this mattress. the mattress has been two years old as we were told by landlord. we mentioned this issue in August but now it is official.

We just hope to get a replacement if possible suits us better.
  • for now we are looking for a replacement which is not form mattress.
there also have been cases reported for injuries associated with those type of mattress.

    Im doubting your story.

You said 'we purchased' several times in your first post. You said youve used gift cards you also know other items that where bought but dont have a reciept?

So youve had a conversation with your landlord complaining about the bed? They said he got it from ikea and you need to speak to them? They also remembered what they bought from ikea 2 years ago for a rental property.

Ikea wouldnt deal with you as youre not the customer. If youre trying to be thats fraud.

If you want a replacement buy one. The landlord has provided you with a mattress. If it s faulty you need to tell them youve got a faulty matress and get them to rectify the issue. If its not faulty and it just isnt to your comfort buy a new one or deal with it.

Were any children or fluffy bunnies involved ?

No, but I believe that some nuns were spotted buying Swedish meatballs in the cafe.

you could doubt my story if you want.

we can leave the rental agreement out of this story. everyone has their own way of living life and arrangements.

we bought the mattress and we only been living in it and using it since May. it was previously occupied by others since June 2015. we will have to sort this out ourselves.
  • we will see what the inspector says and go from there
  • You could consult google for the cases related.

Trying to work out why you'd either change it or not just tell it as it is?

If you want to. I dont know what to base my advice on. You deal with ikea and you didnt buy the good yourself youre committing fraud as ikea have no contract with you. You did buy it yourself you need to prove its faulty. Ikea have very kindly offered an independent inspector to assess it.

I tried, a few bits about chemicals, some people falling off beds and a rather funny video of a kid being launched off a bed. Not finding much about back injuries though.

Youre making this look like a scam. You cant even get your story straight on an online forum when you have time to think and edit replies. Youve completely neglected the fact that ikea will have an online presence (they look for complaints, chancers etc), something for you to google....
