Yes that is all true (hence the "little"). Still he did outperform for investors for decades and I'm sure he isn't ruining his reputation day by day deliberately! There must be a large element of bad luck in this downturn as well as poor management of the funds.

I notice the monthly fund updates appear to have stopped on his website as well, probably because the comments on them were just filled with tough questions and truths every time they appeared :D
Yep. If the discount gets big enough I'll be buying because he might get lucky again :)

I am reminded of all the cr*p he got back in the dot.com boom times.

Why do you feel sorry for a Charlatan?
He still gets paid by those whose money he is losing, and already has far more than them.

Why is he a charlatan, or are you of the school of thought that would put all active managers in that category?

I have a small proportion of his fund inside a SIPP and it has lost money compared to some other funds, but that is what happens when you go with an Active Manager, they are either ahead of their peer group or below with 1 of them right in the middle.

The difference now is that he is buying into the 'dot.com boom times'

His reputation back then afaict was built on shunning booming sectors, that's not what he's doing now and the timing of his buying and selling decisions of late have been lamentable, not to mention the basket cases he's piled into with WPCT.

It might well all come good for him, far more importantly for his investors, I genuinely hope it does.

That said he's been five star dining for decades on a reputation that's beginning to look more like an extraordinary run of luck that's catching up with him.

You could as well say there was an element of good luck in his previous success.
The difficulty with high profile fund managers is that their ego is invested in their strategy. If Woodford changes it now it's admitting he was wrong and that's dangerous territory for someone who get's paid for being right.

Not quite sure why you think the updates have stopped. Next one is due about now for Jan 2018, last one was posted a month ago and there have been other blog posts this month. Maybe if we have no update by the start of March you might be correct but it doesnt look to be the case now

That's certainly not the case for WPCT. Fees only paid if 10% growth in NAV

They sent an email out saying no more monthly updates.

AA's share price showing major falls today, NW is a big holder in his funds having recently increased his holding. Starting to feel a little sorry for him as his reputation suffers blow after blow. Outflows from retail investors in WEI must be accelerating at a rate of knots.

NW isn't the only holder of the shares. ;)
