O/S Daily Thursday 16th November 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, roasted new potatoes, peas/veg and HM onion sauce. Tonight will be chicken in country french sauce, mash and veg.

Yesterday work was steady, I had a day of doing lots of different things, as there was a few things that needed sorting out (long story, but this should have been done by someone else back in April but it's just been discovered it hasn't so needed to be rectified, it hasn't had a negative effect on me). I'm now on days' off, but working Saturday morning, then off until a week Tuesday, I have loads and loads I need to get done.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another mild start for us and dry too. Think this is due to alter at the w/e.

The 3 DGDs are all still asleep but will be to waken up shortly. First though a coffee and enjoying the peace and quiet - and ignoring all the mess left from last night! It will be the usual "cafe" for breakfast - it would be easier if they all wanted the same.

They are back again tonight after swimming/diving, starving hungry as usual. Being Thursday it's the usual Bolognese Bake and garlic bread as I would have a riot on my hands if I made something different. Left the mince out defrosting in readiness overnight.

Once they have been dispatched to school I shall make all the beds and give a quick tidy through before we do the Thursday shop. Need to do a quick foray into Sainsbobs for the bits Aldi don't sell on route.

Must dash but have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for those wanting them. Dear DUMPLING I hope you managed to sort out some help so you could visit Becky this w/e. Take care all xx

    Morning Everyone

Not a good night, the wind was whistling with things being blown about outside and I had tummy ache, serves me right for eating chocolate in the evening!

It's raining out but due to be a lovely day once the rain has moved off, hope so as DD and bf are due on the seaplane again, it's been cancelled 3 times and the voucher runs out soon.

Went after work to get the vaccinations, will have them after work today as long as I remember to get them from the work fridge, still have one to collect from a local chemist.

DW emptied and washing hung up, will need to have a hoover round later.

Sorry Becky wont be visiting home dumpling, stay strong.

    Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Thank you for starting us off nmlc.

Lainey - sorry to hear about your washing machine, right near an expensive time of the year as well.

Judi – this time of the year can be very emotional, I’m sorry that you are having a bit of a wobble.

JackieO – your family are so lucky to have you. It will be good to have the break in the IOW for you all to look forward to.

It is dreary and wet out at the moment, but not cold. I hope that the rain stops soon because I need to collect a parcel from M&S and like to get into town early before it gets too busy. The town is getting increasingly busy now as we are heading toward Christmas. It’s nice to be able to walk up to the shops though, so not all bad.

As I’m still feeling down I’ve decided to give in buy some ready meals today, at least I will eat something more than toast or crumpets. I have managed to prepare a couple of meals this week but yesterday I defrosted a stew but couldn’t find the motivation to prepare the veg.

I had a lovely letter from someone who I haven’t seen for nearly 20 years yesterday. We both moved away from the area we had lived in and lost contact until she contacted a joint friend of Facebook a couple of weeks ago and got my address. It was great to hear from her and she is going to come for a visit in the New Year. I’m really looking forward to that.

Hugs to everyone who is unwell or struggling at the moment.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

    Morning everyone.

The wind has been battering the house all night, the sea is wild and I’m still under my duvet. I went to sleep extra early last night, didn’t get through MasterChef, and only woken briefly by the wind.

Today I’m heading back down to DM’s for a couple of days. I have two parcels to collect from W*itrose, get my flu jag at M*rrisons, take DM to docs and then do nothing. Tomorrow I’ve booked my sight and contact lens tests and checks.

There’s also rubbish to take to the tip! Exciting times.

    Happy Thursday to all.
  • Morning all and a quick check in before I head off to an appointment. I'll work at home the rest of the day and that's me done until December 5th. I'm taking a combination of annual leave and time owing. I really am tired now, but when I go back, it will be nearing Christmas people will be cheerful, I hope.

Hope everyone has a good day

  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

I dropped hubby at work at 6:30, filled the car with fuel, went to the SM to get a few bits as one of the DGD's is staying tomorrow night.

I have a U3A meeting at 10:45 and two boats to clean today, the WM is chugging away and I need to fill up the coal bucket and empty the ash pan. I've finished one porthole bung and the other is nearly finished, I have 2 more rounds of border to do on my latest blanket and then I need to choose the colours for the next one.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning all,

Played football last night after stopping off at the SM on the way home. In bed for 9.30 reading a book.

Been to the gym this morning with no plans tonight other than finish off my apple and blueberry pies. I'll aim to get another chapter completed tonight too.

HH - Hope you're feeling a bit more like yourself today.
Gers - You get your flu jab at Morrisons? The supermarket?
    aod - Enjoy your break!

    Morning everyone,

Have woken up with the start of a cold, throat is sore and feel a bit bleurgh, DOH has been nursing it for a few days so has obviously decided to share!
After doing a good amount of research the new WM has been ordered and is due to come next week, we got a good deal with an extra 3 years warranty at no charge but have paid for disposal of our old machine.
Car wise my mini had no problems at all with his MOT but with a full service the bill was just over £300 so that's a lot of money sailing out of our savings (actually paid for it all on my Partnership card which will be cleared down next month but means we get the JL points :money:)
Oh well, it was all needed and my last WM lasted for 11 years so owed me nothing.

Food shopping this morning and have a £12 of a £60 shop with Sainsbobs so will do a restock of the cupboards ahead of this bad winter they say is coming, Lulu had a good hack out yesterday afternoon so will probably just give her a pamper session today.

Hugs to all those with worries and cares, have a good day folks x

    Morning all

Managed to get a really good sleep last night which I think I needed so feeling ready to face the world :D Big work list to crack on with today but will make some time for a few house jobs from my Master to list. Taking next week and possibly the week after off which is rare for me now as every day is a work day when you are self employed. I have managed to cram all the appointments I needed to make in the week like docs, dentist and some deliveries/pick ups.

Mum visit went OK and Paddington went down well:j she was a bit sniffy at first saying it was silly but then she started to play with his duffle coat and hat and then sat him on Dads chair :) it might seem like nothing but she has been so low and depressed it was nice to see a bit of a smile.

Going to stick my head in the freezer soon for scoff tonight

Have a great day all :A
