I wouldn't risk it. Check out the free software guides on this forum. Only download software from trusted sites & if not sure go through https://www.download.com or some trusted portal like that, saying that don't however click advertised/sponsered links on any portal.Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0

Mike Lin wrote the software and this is his site, I have been using this program for years with absolutely no problem whatsoever, it is easy to use, and all changes can be reversed easily.0 -
you can disable some startup programs using XP's "msconfig"
just type it in the the run box (from yor start button)
deselect the items you no longer want to open at startup.
i would recommend googling each entry first to see what it does and if it is neededNever put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

This is what I did. I stopped quicktime and NeroCheck but I got fed up of googling the others as I don't know how to get a list I can print off.

i usually just stop most in start up and see what its like on rebbot.

Hi,
Whenever I clean up my 'start up' with 'msconfig' I refer to the following website to check out the programs:

worth a visit.See you on the dark side of the moon0 -
I'm on Linux at the moment, so can't check.
If you have Spybot you can go into Mode/Advanced/Tools/System Startup, if you click the double arrowed box on the right (more info box), then highlight an entry, you can get an recommendation as to its usefulness.
HTH.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
there was a thread about this a few weeks ago, http://www.pcreview.co.uk/startup/index.php?file=hkcmd&do=file was suggested which I used and its really easy. you need to put in what startup item you want then it tells you what it is and if you need it or not .no debts0
