PPI Help - turned down by the ombusman

Hi, Myself and my husband put in a claim for store cards we had in the late 90's early 00's, these are fully paid off and are no longer in use.

So my hubby was successful with his claim but mine was declined, even though we gave the exact same information and when they phoned to ask some questions I answered mine and handed the phone to him while he answered his and we gave the exact same information!

Anyway I took mine to the ombusman as I was 100% mis sold these because a)the sales assistant filled the form in and b) I was told I had to take the PPI to get the card . I am 100% possitive on this because I never took PPI out on anything as I was advised by an old (businessman) Uncle never to take it so I didn't, except for this occassion as I was told it was not optional. (it was the same for my husbands cards).

So Ombusman has just come back to me to say basically it's my word against theirs and as they have my signed agreement I cant prove anything. This is fair enough and I do understand that but I am so cross because I was totally missold it. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

No two complaints are exactly the same. Neither of your complaints were compelling, but the Bank could have found other errors with your husband's sale or simply decided to autopay without any investigation. The point is you'll never know why your husband's complaint was upheld, since Banks only explain rejections.

I'm afraid not, you have now exhausted the complaint process.

    a) is not a missale reason.
    b) is one of the weakest complaint reasons going. Very rare there is any evidence to back up that allegation.

Game over. An ombudsman decision is the final of the three stages (complaint to firm, then to FOS adjudicator and finally ombudsman)

To be fair, based on what you have said, the rejection does seem right. You were reliant on another failing being identified or getting lucky with auto payout. That didnt happen.
