It is a gamble, check if it's been looked after, ie service receipts etc.
I bought a 17 year old Pug 306 diesel (P reg I think) a couple of years back for £500 and it did me six months and 16k miles without any real issues before the exhaust fell off and I sold it! Got £200 odd for it on Ebay so I reckon that was decent value.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -

A lot will depend on how many miles per year the OP does; some cars can fetch £140 for scrap, so if it last a year its not too bad.0 -
No it isn't. It's £550 for a car with 12 months MOT. That's as cheap as cars that aren't rusted to death and have 12 months MOT will get. I presume it's a private seller so no chance of a warranty.
£550 is definitely at the bottom end but you can definitely get cars for cheaper. This week i helped someone who was buying a car for £240 it has almost 12 months MOT is also an 02 plate and has done less miles than the OP's car.
There was a history of rust on the MOT's but it has been fixed and there was nothing major visible. Although the low miles is a negative and had had very little use the last few years and no history of servicing. But it's still a good deal for the money and there are plenty of cars in this price range if you don't care what car your getting and are prepared to travel a little.0
