  • If you're flying with Ryanair, you won't be landing at Barcelona airport - it will be either Girona or Reus.

If you want to get from Girona to Barcelona the options are either the ryanair bus or alternatively get the local bus from girona airport to girona town and then get a train to barcelona.

Do you know how much local bus and train would cost. Also would it be a lot cheaper to stay in girona on our first night - any idea of good and cheap hotelsthanks all J

just do a search on tripadvisor.com for a hotel in girona and get a cab

then train next day into barca

we stayed in a hotel last time in the industrial area opposite the beach. it was a bus ride out to la ramblas but im a glad we did as it was madness

Sorry i've no idea how much the local bus is as in the end i went with easyjet direct to the main barcelona airport rather than ryanair via girona.

The hotel i stayed in was just off la rambla and was ok although the area was great (think ladies of the night!) However i had no problem with them and the hotel was quite nice.

don't believe that, just typed a huge reply and got timed out...grrr....

Anyway, I have a bus timetable from September and am assuming you arrive from Bristol at 2350 as it's the latest UK flight. The bus leaves at 0015 and arrives Barca at 0125 - that's Barca Nord bus station so then you'll need to take a taxi assuming you are staying near the Ramblas as it's a bit too far to walk esp at that time of night. Bus return ticket is €22.

Girona overnight is a far better option, hotels close to the train station are Melia, Husa and the Carlemany (not sure of the spelling). Trains to Barca are frequent and take approx 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the service. www.renfe.es for the train timetables.

    AND
The buses to/from Barcelona-Girona don't run to a regular timetable, it all depends on what flights are coming and going.

A tip for anyone needing to use the bus back to Girona from Barca, don't assume that you'll get a seat just because that is the particular bus laid on for your flight time - if the bus is full it's full and you won't get on. Make sure you are at the bus station in plenty of time and be prepared to leave your manners behind as it can be a real scramble!

A fairly common situation with ryanair destinations.
