SPAM junk mail, en masse

Hi, I am still using hotmail for my email,
and now am getting so much junk (bitcoin, gambling, etc )
every day, if I go away for a few days, I return to over a hundred
junk emails, it seems they are all from the USA, apart from
Everest double glazing....

Is this Microsoft selling addresses ??

I try unsubscribing, and blocking, but that seems to have no effect :(

can anyone suggest how to solve this ?? TIA

I don't know how true it is but I've read many times that when you click on the unsubscribe link, all you are doing is confirming to the spammers that they have a valid e-mail address, something that make it more valuable when they sell on their list of email addresses to over companies.

I think that all you can do is to keep ignoring them, add certain words to your spam filter so that many of the mails end up in there or simply change your Hotmail address and only give the new address to trusted people and companies.

only in the 100s...if only

when you've had your primary e-mail address for 20 yrs you get a lot more than that...

It will take time, but you can block every message. Right click each one, one at a time.
    Click "Mark as Junk".

When the "Junk" folder is full, check the box beside each message in the folder, one after another.

Go to "Block" above and click it. This will outline all the Junk messages and ask
"Block (all messages)?" - there will be a long list of email addresses - click the blue box "OK".

Do this for every such message you get and they will slow to a trickle. Some that return will be marked as "Junk" by Hotmail. You can block them as they appear.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

I have some old AOL email accounts that get lots of spam, it could have been harvested in so many ways.

Being a long standing account and one i used to register for LOTS of websites and forums and social sites as AOL started to die.

What you need is a new email for each site you use. I use a different one for ebay and paypal for instance. Easy to find out where the spam originated then.
